In a development that won’t surprise Cowboys fans, Jets kicker Nick Folk has hit a serious slump in New York.
Over the last three weeks, Folk has hit only 6-of-11 field goals. He’s 0-for-4 on kicks over 40 yards and has started to struggle with the most basic tasks of his job.
“When you miss the field goal, that’s one thing,” coach Rex Ryan said on 1050 ESPN Radio via ESPNNewYork.com. “But when he hit the upright on the extra point, it’s like, ‘Nick, come on, you can kick it left-footed and kick it through there.”
Folk has also struggled on kickoffs, so the Jets have started to look at alternatives. Former Houston Texan Kris Brown will try out for the team on Tuesday, according to Rich Cimini. Brown spent the last three weeks with the Chargers, hitting four out of five field goals.
It’s unclear if the Jets are just preparing their “ready list” in case Folk messes up again or whether they will make a change before Monday’s big game in Foxborough.

i think the Jets should try to sign Jeff Reed
nice to know your coach won’t hang you out to dry in the press.
He needs to be replaced now so a veteran kicker can come in and try and fix this problem. Post Monday nights game will be too late.
Nick Novak is the man for this job
where is Reed , having the rest of our games in possible wintry weather ,this guy knows how to kick in those conditions, and would love to stick it to the Burgh on Dec 19…sign him ,kris brown is just as erractic as Folk
drop him now! the jets are setting themselves up for too many OT games this year, if they continue to do this in the playoffs, you MUST have someone that can walk on the field and end the game.
You give Brady, Brees, Manning, or any other playoff QB a chance to win in OT, they’ll drive their team down to the 30 and take the chip shot FG.
