Bears took down one of the most explosive offense in the NFL. The Panthers game was october 10th, not sure why that came up. Before Miami, they took down Favre + AP, and before that stopped a high octane Buffalo offense (I don’t care what anyone says about that team, they are good at moving the ball downfield.).

Oh yea, and they’d have less trouble stoppin the Chargers. And their D is twice as good.
————–
The panthers game came up because 1/2 CHI’s wins are against inept teams. MIN was wout their 2 starting WRs so that is another unearned win. Buffalo with the worst run D in the league is another 1/2 win. Same for the win against the DAL, another sub .500 team bumbling under Wade Phillips.

CHI has the worst OL in the league so vs SD (the top pass rush) you could expect a stomping similar to what you got against the only real team you faced the NYG.
_______________________________

An "unearned" win? I didn't realize there was such a thing in the NFL. Is that a Canadian concept?

Let's apply your own "logic" to the Chargers, and their impressive hit list--who have THEY beat?

Powerhouses like the
3-8 Cards,
5-6 Titans,
5-6 Texans,
3-8 Broncos,
and 6-5 Jags and Colts (the only two teams above .500, and only one game above it)...

What's worse--look at all 5 of their losses:
5-6 Seattle,
5-6 Oakland,
5-6 STL ...
3 LOSING teams, and only 2 losses to teams with winning records:
7-4 KC and 9-2 NE...

Chargers aren't even the best team in their own division right now!! (and you wanna call out the BEARS?!?)

The Bears also lost all 4 of their pre-season games, and looked terrible THEN--shall we go back that far, too?

Fact is, the Bears team you see now is not the same as the team that played in October.
And did you forget it was Todd freakin' Collins that QB'd for the Bears against Carolina?

Chicago's o-line didn't even consist of all the same players until--you guessed it--THE PAST THREE GAMES. Their o-line of the past 3 weeks is lightyears ahead of of what they fielded previously, and the stats bear that out.

And by your "logic"--the Steelers needed OT and a dropped pass to get past the Bills, is that an "unearned win", too?
Does that make the Bears a better team, since they beat the Bills in regulation?

The Bears also beat Philly and Dallas, who both beat the Giants...who you call a "the only real team" they faced.
Of the 5 teams that beat they Chargers, how many of those were "real"? How about Seattle, who beat BOTH our teams? Are they "real"?
Were those wins for Seattle earned, or unearned?

Or, as I would contend--does it just not matter?

Is it more intelligent to say teams just have to play who's put in front of them, and 9 times out of 10, record is meaningless, and any team can give any other team a beating on any given Sunday in the NFL ?
And that no matter what, comparative analysis like yours (team A beat team B, team B beat team C, therefore team A beats team C every time...or some variation of that) just does not work in the NFL.

In short, your little daydream--that S.D. would crush the Bears, is nothing but a fiction in your own head.

Falcons have beaten better teams than the Bucs, on top of beating the Bucs, and specifically have also beat or been competitive with every team TB has lost to. There shouldn't even be discussion of the Bucs being better than the Falcons, but all that discussion will come to an end Sunday when the Falcons travel to Florida to complete the sweep.

Bucs fans can relish in the fact that their team is sitting at home eating chilli cheese dip during the playoffs, just like they are.

Ok Eagles Fans here’s reality

You lost to GB, Washington, Chicago, and Tennessee. Washington lost to the “Yikes” Chicago, to the Seahawks, and GB lost to Miami.

I have no idea what all this means. However this serves as a baseline format for you arguing the Falcons power rankings.

Bottom line, we are the best team in the NFC.

GO FALCONS!!!!

ONE THING TO SAY MY SOUTHERN CHICKEN EATING NO COUNT IDIOT.
WE HAVE KICKED YOUR ASS ONCE AND LOOKING FORWARD TO BEATING YOUR NO GOOD ASS ONE MORE TIME THIS YEAR!!!

@ontboltsfan: New England is ranked over Pittsburgh and Baltimore because they beat both those teams, and they have a better record. Sure their defense is young, but they looked pretty good against those teams.
------------------
NE beat PIT but recall top WR Hines Ward, 3/5 the OL, 2/3 the DL were injured. They did beat BAL at home as BAL could do same. These ratings are tied to the record only. Both BAL and PIT have top O's and D's while NE has a top O but the D gives up 400 yds/g.

You Tampa fans are delusional. Do they even have a win against a team that is above .500? I dont care about blown calls, dropped passes, "lucky" wins, you need to beat a good team before you complain about your ranking.

Wins against Cle, Car, Cinci, Stl, Azr, Car, SF WOW, those are some quality wins right there.

They had their chance to make a point against Pit, NO, Atl, and Balt and lost them all. It doenst matter by how much, they lost.

I see they have ATL and NO remaining, beat one or both and then you have an argument. The Wash, Sea, and Det games wont do much.

"are we forgetting that the eagles were missing 2 of their cornerbacks? a 4 spot slide is a little unjustified considering our starting corners for the game were joselio hanson and demetri patterson (look them up, i got time) "

I wonder how Packer fans field about you begging for a higher ranking because of injuries.

Really grendelg? You see "no respect" for the Falcons?

Do me a favor--scroll back up...put your finger on the number 32, then count up 31 spots, and see who's at the #1 spot on the power rankings.

See it now?

How many weeks have they been there now?

Then go check ESPN, SportingNews, SI, Yahoo, CBS, Fox Sports, USA Today, Women's Home Journal, Seventeen, and any other outlet you can find--if even ONE of them has the Falcons ranked lower than #3, after eating my hat, I'll post "The Falcons are not only the best, but they get no respect" at least once on every Falcons story on PFT between now and Friday, okay?

Go on, run along now.

(God I hate the fake "we get no respect" cries, because it completely de-legitimizes the real, authentic instances of disrespect...it's like listening to rock stars/celebrities whining about how hard their lives are...)

But seriously, where were you Sunday? The Bears took down one of the most explosive offense in the NFL. The Panthers game was october 10th, not sure why that came up. Before Miami, they took down Favre + AP, and before that stopped a high octane Buffalo offense (I don't care what anyone says about that team, they are good at moving the ball downfield.).

Oh yea, and they'd have less trouble stoppin the Chargers. And their D is twice as good.

beckzhere,

"The better team wins 99% of the time"

"The only way the Falcons will lose at home this year is if the Iggles come for the NFC Championship and all the knucklehead fans are cheering for the Falcons EX-quarterback instead of our present quarterback."

So if falcon fans, who are in the stands and not on the field, cheer enough for vick the eagles will win and be the better team ...or will the cheering give them that 1% edge...just enough to beat the falcons?

I think you just said the falcons will lose in the playoffs to a better eagles team right, or did I miss something?

Also, if the bucs beat the falcons by more than 4 points by your logic you HAVE to say the bucs are a better team than the falcons because 99% of the time the better team wins. Last time bucs played atlanta came a yd short of taking lead with 2 mins to go. So, if falcons lose by say 7 points you have to say not only did the bucs beat the falcons, they also loss to the falcons by less points so the bucs are clearly the better team.

Do we agree on this scenario?

I hate to say this but the Bears may just be good. As a Packer fan, if last year we thought our team was good playing the schedule we played(which was easy) then we have to accept that the Bears have made this team work for whatever reason. Packers Peaking too soon, give me a break.....we played a damn good team on the road. Even good teams lose those from time to time.

Really deweyaxewound? I see no respect for the Falcons...

They were supposed to get plastered by the Packers this week according to the pundits. They were supposed to lose to the Ravens and show they really aren't that good. They were supposed to lose to the 'Aints in NO.

I don't know if they're the best team in the NFL... And neither do you. We know that on Sunday they beat the Packers. We know that they beat the Ravens in Atlanta and the Saints in New Orleans. We know they lost in Pitt and Philly. We know they seem a lot better at home than on the road.

I'd guess that of the Falcons, Packers, and Eagles any of them would probably win against anyone at home. I'd put the Saints, Bears, and Bucs in the next tier and they'll probably beat bad teams and might upset one of the top teams at home. Other than that it's an "Any Given Sunday" deal.

You barley lost to the Falcons?
The point is we beat GB barely or not it’s still a “W.” Same thing with the Saints, another “W.”
You barley lost to the Falcons? More total offense and more total defense, but we barley beat the Bucs, cool the point is it’s a nothe “W.” This is the NFL, not college football, if you’re considering a point differential as a status of “ass whoopinery,” then you’re not a real football fan. 90% of NFL games are close games on paper.

Don’t worry you’ll have another chance this weekend. Be sure to leave more comments again next week, as the Dirty Birds earn another “W.”
