Earlier this week, one Baltimore columnist called Ben Roethlisberger out for creating extra drama before every Ravens-Steelers game by coming up with a new injury. The drama was only getting started.

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Roethlisberger will play through a broken foot Sunday. He reportedly suffered a broken fifth metatarsal bone in the first quarter of last week’s win over the Bills.

The Steelers have said that Big Ben just has a foot sprain. He’s participated in practice the last two days and is fully expected to start.

UPDATE: The Steelers released a statement: “In response to inquiries about Ben Roethlisberger having a broken foot, Steelers spokesperson Dave Lockett said there is no new fracture in Ben’s foot. Ben’s current injury is an aggravation of an old injury where scar tissue is present.”

So basically the team says it’s not that big a deal, and someone else told the Post-Gazette it is a big deal. Got it.
