Rolando McClain has arthritis

Vincent Jackson may be out for a few weeks, but the Chargers offense is still in better shape than it has been all season.  Wide receiver Malcom Floyd, tight end Antonio Gates, and Mike Tolbert all practiced for the first time this week Friday.

I’m optimistic all three will be able to play and play en extended part,” coach Norv Turner said, via Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Tolbert’s hand is injured, but he could split carries more than usual this week with rookie Ryan Mathews back in the mix.  Mathews is probable to play.  Jackson is officially doubtful.

For the Raiders cornerback Chris Johnson is doubtful after missing practice all week, and linebacker Rolando McClain is questionable after missing practice Thursday and Friday with a foot injury.   McClain apparently has arthritis, which you don’t usually associate with 21-year-old football players.

Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, tight end Zach Miller, and safety Tyvon Branch are among the questionable players, but they are all expected to play.    Wideout Chaz Schilens has a chance to make his first appearance of the year.

  1. Oh no. Rolando has had a lot of health issues, and I pray this isn’t a sign of a more serious form of arthritis or some other chronic health problem. He’s an amazing athlete, smart and with an incredible work ethic. Hope he can get through this and be able to play at full strength.

Best wishes, Ro! The Tide still misses you! God bless!

I was really hoping Chris Johnson could play, Walter McFadden got absolutely toasted last week.

And that was against Chad Henne….. I can just imagine what Rivers will do to light the boy up

  3. When Al didn’t wiff badly on his on his first rounder, you knew another shoe would drop. In this case it was McClain’s left shoe – arthritic foot? Oh yea, nothing says long career like a chronic, incurable foot condition.
At least there’s next year’s number one…oh wait.

  4. Matthews is suffering from Darren McFadden-itis. He’ll be fine come year 3. Chargers will most likely pull this one out. I’m sure the players are taking it way more seriously than the doltie fan bandwagoneers…Welcome to LA…

  5. iam hopeing not walter mcfadden why not jeremy ware he seemed to do well in the weeks prior or is he injured to…
