Tamba Hali’s strip sack of Kyle Orton helped the Chiefs hold on for a 10-6 win over the Broncos on a blustery day in Kansas City.

Todd Haley not only shook Josh McDaniels’ hand after the game, he patted him on the head.

The Chiefs are ahead of schedule when it comes to playing meaningful games again: “We see the beginning of the foundation of the team that can perhaps compete for championships,” Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt. “Whether that will be this year or not, we don’t know yet. It’s going to be exciting to see what happens in the next six or seven weeks.”

With Brandon Flowers suffering another injury, cornerback Brandon Carr had a shutdown day for the young Chiefs secondary.

Haley’s decision to pass on a field goal early in the second half didn’t come back to haunt him.

Josh McDaniels made an oddly timid decision to punt with under four minutes left; the decision backfired on him.

Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey had a terrific effort shutting down Dwayne Bowe and making big plays.

The Broncos lost for only the second time in team history when a running back went over 160 yards. Knowshon Moreno pulled the trick.

Denver’s offense and defense just don’t know how to complement one another.

Kyle Orton suffered through his most inaccurate day as a Bronco during a frigid day in Kansas City.
