He is Classless. A cheater and a poor loser. And that’s only what the nfl will let us know about what happened.

Oh please. Just go back rolling around on the ground with your boys and leave everyone else alone. Heck, the Pats beat my Eagles when they finally made it to the SB and I don't have a problem with them. They outplayed my Eagles straight up that game. I dealt with the disappointment and moved on. You wish your team's coach was half as good as Belichick.

Could not agree more with that comparison.. Having watched that game, i actually felt sorry for the skins fans that was embarrassing how the defense played. The pats just straight up out-schemed the jets and their gameplan worked to perfection. So nobody should be whining about running up the score when clearly the jets let it happen with poor execution, and terrible QB play. It's not like the pats had amazing field position either.. We drove down the field twice when we were backed up, especially after the two picks... Stop whining pansies and take ur beatings like you usually do

I was disputing Florio's and Belichick's claim that he doesn't care what the score is. When he's way ahead, he wants his team to play a full 60 minutes. When he's behind by a lot, he quits. If he doesn't care what the score is, why doesn't he want his team to play a full 60 minutes when he's hopelessly behind?

I think everyone has it wrong. This wasn't about running up the score, this was about getting a young defense to play hard for 60 minutes.

Everyone criticizes the Patriots defense for ranking last (or 31st) in yards allowed. Yet those numbers have been completely skewed by the games in which the Patriots have had large leads. They led Cincy 31-3 and then played prevent as Cincy rolled up well over 400 yards in garbage time. Same thing against Miami. They the Dolphins 41-14 but Miami went over 400 yards. They led San Diego 20-3 in the 4th quarter before the Chargers used an onside kick to storm back. Everyone who watched the Steelers game saw how well our defense played. They dominated Pittsburgh as we raced to a 24-3 lead. Then we went prevent and the Steelers ended up with more than 400 yards. Same thing vs the Colts.

The Patriots rank near the bottom of the league in yards allowed b/c they've given up a ton of yardage in garbage time of games they've had huge leads in. Part of this is due to playing prevent defense and part of it is due to young players shutting it down and getting sloppy when they think the game is in hand.

With that being the case, Belichick's emphasis MUST be on getting these guys to stay sharp for a full 60 minutes. The fact that this also equates to rubbing it in on the Jets and their trash talking coach is just icing on the cake.

"That’s weird, I don’t remember the part where Ryan was forced to keep his starters on the field the whole game. Where’s the outrage there?

Since when is taking your starters out when you have no hope to win begging for mercy? That’s saying “Do what you want, you’re just gonna do it against our second stringers. Enjoy.” I’m pretty sure no one on the Pats complained about being run up on that game."

There's no outrage. I'm just disputing Florio's claim that he doesn't care what the score is when it comes to what he does on the field.

Here's the message he sends:

Up by 40+ --- Keep playing hard with your starters to send a "a message that made sense to drive home after the team struggled in the fourth quarter against the Steelers and Colts."

Down by 20+ --- Quit

There’s no outrage. I’m just disputing Florio’s claim that he doesn’t care what the score is when it comes to what he does on the field.

Here’s the message he sends:

Up by 40+ — Keep playing hard with your starters to send a “a message that made sense to drive home after the team struggled in the fourth quarter against the Steelers and Colts.”

Down by 20+ — Quit

There is no running up the score in the NFL. This isn't pewee football. When it comes to tie breakers quality of wins can matter. Also you NEVER let another team off the hook. You do not give your biggest rival hope, or let them talk about how they started to get things together and come back. You crush them, you punish them, you take away any hope they have of EVER beating you if you can.

Yeah, the Pats are classless for running it up eh? What do you call a coach who goes on the air multiple times during the week saying "The best team is gonna win, and we are the best team." THAT is classy? No, that just gives your opponent motivation to show you just how much BETTER they are than you.

I was so very happy that NE beat that loudmouth Rex and his prima donna team, including that "I am classy" LT.

Long time Pats fan here. Thanks for the intelligent post. Your team will turn it around. See you in the playoffs.

@ jajibokum
The Rooney's care about football and it shows when the team takes the field. Most fans of the team show that they know something about the game.

This is the first time this season the Patriots have put together 60 minutes of solid football. They needed to show a very young football team how to do that and what happens when you stop playing hard. They need to do that every single game from this point onward. The schedule keeps on getting more difficult. Coach was just teaching them discipline and how to focus. Its just that simple. Execute each play, every single play, without fail.

“Then again, the attitude and approach is totally consistent with how Belichick has operated throughout his tenure in New England. And it was a message that made sense to drive home after the team struggled in the fourth quarter against the Steelers and Colts.”

Horse puckey and a half. When he was on the other side of this in New Orleans last year, his players didn’t need to work through things in the 4th quarter. He sent up the white flag and pulled Brady and most of his other starters. It is what it is. They kick you when YOU are down and beg for mercy when THEY are down.

***************************************

That's weird, I don't remember the part where Ryan was forced to keep his starters on the field the whole game. Where's the outrage there?

Since when is taking your starters out when you have no hope to win begging for mercy? That's saying "Do what you want, you're just gonna do it against our second stringers. Enjoy." I'm pretty sure no one on the Pats complained about being run up on that game.

NE stops passing, they might as well punt on 1st down. You can't stop running your offense just because you might end up in the end zone. Someone's 20 yards deep to keep the safeties back, or pull a 'backer into coverage, not (necessarily) because Belichik wants to humiliate Ryan--though it'd do him some good.

With all the personnel changes, that team needs to play all 60 minutes. Most of them are still earning their spot on the roster.
