Dez Bryant gets a big bonus

D. Bryant

A disappointing end to Dez Bryant’s season won’t prevent him from collecting on a $1 million bonus.

ESPNDallas.com’s Calvin Watkins reports Bryant earned the money by playing at least 35 percent of the team’s snaps when active and catching over 41 passes on the season. (Bryant finished with 45 catches for 561 yards.) By reaching those numbers, Bryant also triggered another bonus that’s worth $1.4 million in 2012.

Bryant figures to improve on those offensive numbers in his second season, especially if Roy Williams is no longer on the team. Interim head coach Jason Garrett says he can’t imagine not using Bryant on returns as well.

Of course, Garrett has to remain employed by the Cowboys to use on Bryant on returns next year. Garrett’s off to a good start.
