49ers assistant coach Johnnie Lynn resigns

J. Lynn

49ers special assistant to the head coach/secondary Johnnie Lynn resigned from the team for personal reasons, coach Mike Singletary confirmed Wednesday.

“I visited with Johnnie before he left,” Singletary said.  “All I’m going to say about that is that it’s something I will not comment on. But Johnnie and his family will deal with it, and I lose a good friend.”

Matt Maiocco of Comcast Bay Area first reported Lynn’s departure on Tuesday.  While the change comes after a rough day for the team’s secondary, that performance doesn’t appear to be a factor in Lynn’s departure

The team began to make front office changes on the business side of the team last week and more housecleaning is reportedly expected in the coming weeks.

Singletary is a better player than head coach. Someone should fire him before he ruins his legacy.

He’ll always be a member of the Unholy Triumvirate of God-Awful NY Giants Defensive Coordinators along with Tim Lewis and Bill Sheridan. And for that, I will never be able to scrub the memory of him from my brain.
