Aaron Rodgers named NFC offensive player of the week

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been recognized for his big game Sunday against the 49ers with the NFC offensive player of the week award.

Rodgers completed 21 of 30 passes for 298 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Packers’ 34-16 win.

Rodgers had a 61-yard touchdown pass to Donald Driver and a 57-yard touchdown pass to Greg Jennings, making him the second player with two 50-plus-yard touchdown passes in a December game at Lambeau Field. (The first was Brett Favre in 1998.)

The win over the 49ers was Rodgers’ fifth straight game without an interception — something Favre never did.

Did anyone take into account that he did all of this against ……. the 49ers?

  2. jbl429 says: Dec 8, 2010 2:25 PM

That TD pass to Driver was all Driver. One of the best TDs I’ve seen in a long time.

    Good for A. Rodg.

Their 18th in the league against the pass, when he does it against the Patriots ,who are last, will that make it a better achievement? I am always surprised by your posts how little you know about football

    they’re (before you correct me)

Favre throws INT’s by the bushel full, just ask the Vikings. Oh yea, he tends to fumble a lot too, maybe not as much as AD last year but he is a turnover machine when he sets his mind to it.

Meanwhile Brent is nominated “most” offensive player by the National Organization of Women.

Where is all of Florio’s talk now about how the Packers won’t be able to move the ball through the air in cold weather at Lambeau now?

Gotta love PFT’s attempt at “stirring the pot”…….

Granted Rodgers will always be compared to Favre, but the Brett Favre led Vikings are currently irrelevant to the Packers until they play the Bears….

Btw….. Where are all those disillusioned Queen “fans” who bailed ship half way through the season……

richm2256, I fail to see your point.

The 49ers are ranked in the top 10 for defense, atleast they were before the Packers game…

Do some research before you open your ignorant mouth!

  12. didiwags says: Dec 8, 2010 3:42 PM

Wow, they sure have lowered there standards for offensive player of the week… I mean really they played the 49ers!!!

  13. gregjennings85 says: Dec 8, 2010 4:01 PM

    Speaking of the 49ers…

…did anyone notice that the ‘dead’ Packer running game was gashing the vaunted San Fran run defense on the back of one 6th round, James Starks.

    From…?

    Buffalo.

(he broke 3 tackles by my count, all in which he was in the grasp of Patrick Willis)

The kid can play. Feed him the rock.

    @ gregjennings85

Well, he certainly shoul;d be the answer to the 3rd & 1 dilemma anyway. He’s a power runner and has better instincts than Jackson, let’s see hows he handles pass blocking and if he can catch.

Yet Erin has never won a damn thing.

He DOES do that stupid championship belt thing every time he scores a TD though. *roll eyes*

  16. bordner says: Dec 8, 2010 6:04 PM

Actually, I like that championship belt thing better than that little hop-skip thing that he does after a TD pass. Either way, I hope we get to see them both many, many more times this year.

There is no Erin on the Packers. Pretty sure I told you this last time.

And what does his not having won anything yet have to do with how well he played last week?

As for Aaron’s belt celebration, it’s no stupider than the cattle roping thing Allen does.

    Just sayin.

Yes Starks is a more viable option in all regards to running the football vs Jackson.

But what about Kuhn on 3rd and 1 like last week, I think it was more that fact they were in full house formation with Quinn Johnson leading the way but I don’t think I’ve seen them line up like that all year, was nice to see some power runs with the big guy.

    @joetoronto,

Last time I checked it was a 53 man team, so to say “he” hasn’t won anything is ridiculous! But your ignorance is appreciated for laughs!

My point is that he shouldn’t act like he’s won the Super Bowl when he hasn’t won a damn thing.

I know that if I was a Packer fan, It would bother me.

To each his own, I guess your standards are allot lower.

  20. SpartaChris says: Dec 9, 2010 12:17 PM

@joetoronto- As Packer fans, it doesn’t bother us one bit. If anything, we enjoy that it bothers you Vikings and Bears fans immensely.

joetoronto says: I know that if I was a Packer fan, It would bother me.

Ya, but you sound like a Viking fan so let me ask you, does it bother you that the Vikings are 0-4 in Superbowls and 0-5 in the last 5 NFC Championship games they played in?

That would bother me a great deal, being the NFL’s biggest choke team. Every time the Vikings get close, they choke. Like their big 15-1 season, up by 7 points in the 4 qtr at home against the Falcons and still find a way to lose.

Yes sir, that would bother me a lot.

  22. joetoronto says: Dec 10, 2010 6:44 AM

Doorknobs: I’ve never been a Vikings, Bears or Lions fan.

    Just for the record.

  23. aaronitout says: Dec 10, 2010 8:58 AM

The celebration is not a championship belt thing. It’s a six-shooter belt, as in pistols….ya know for the six points you get for a TD.

If you want to open that argument, Fritz Shurmur and the Packer defense is what won Favre his one and only ring. How little you remember of Favre writing checks that his own defense stopped payment on. Favre was tough and solid, but c’mon. If Rodgers had that team, or if this year’s team was healthy….Favre may have been an afterthought after this season.
I can only hope A-Rodge gets a ring before the Diva gets his name up on the wall at Lambeau.

Well, your posts are trollish enough to resemble Vikings fans, so you can’t blame people for making that assumption. Plus, for someone not a fan of a team in the division, you sure do give the Packers a lot of attention. This means you’re either a loser with nothing better to do than trash talk a random team, or a liar.. which is it?

The Toronto in your name might lead one to conclude you’re a Bills fan. Is that correct? Come on big man, let us know. Which team do YOU root for?
