And you know this, how? And if you say, “because no one else was going to pick him in the first round,” I would ask, and you know that how?

Look at it this way: you didn’t know what the Jaguars were going to do, did you? So how would you know what everyone else was going to do?

I dont agree that Alualu was a `reach`. I beleive a reach is a player you move up in spots to grab. The draft is all about a team assessing their needs and finding the BAP. A team should choose who THEY think will produce for them. The only reason people are labeling Alualu as a reach is because of the so-called `experts` draft boards. Granted, those `experts` know their football but they arent in the minds of the GMs making the decisions.

If you do a re-draft, not based on expectations but on actual production to this point of the season, Alualu is EASILY a top 10-pick. Gene Smith, the GM of the Jags, should be getting praised for picking up Alualu at the 10 spot.

Just look at all the other D-line men picked after* Alualu who people were saying `would` have been a better pick up. Alualu is definitly the best of the bunch.

I seem to remember Dolphin fans and Steeler fans thinking the same thing the two weeks previous to last week.

How did that work out for you?

John is a situational player now, but he fits a role.

The Raiders generally like their defensive linemen to all be pass-rushers. John is not that, but that’s also why he’s a key player for the Raiders. They bring him in on running downs, and when he’s been healthy this season he’s helped them slow down opposing running games.

For a team that has performed very poorly against the run in the last seven years, his presence is huge (literally) for them. He doesn’t need to be a starter to have an impact on Sundays. He has a role in the Raider defense, and fits it perfectly.

hmm i seem to remember last week charger fans thinking the same thing. i was at that game. this week will be the same in florida more raider fans than jags fans.

Kind of shows the giant gap of knowledge between draft pundits and actual GMs.
