Raiders-Jaguars will be televised in Jacksonville

jones-drew

For the seventh time in seven home games, the local fans have come through for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jaguars announced today that enough tickets have been sold for the blackout to be lifted, and that means Sunday’s Raiders-Jaguars game will be shown on local television — just as each of the previous six home games this year have.

Technically, the game is not a sellout, and the Jaguars avoided using the term “sellout” in the team’s official announcement. Club level seats are still available, and so are some of the tickets allotted to the Raiders.

But enough tickets have been sold to get the game on local TV, and that’s a credit to the fans in Jacksonville, who have done a good job of rallying around their first-place team this year.

Just to be clear, we rallied around our team before it got into first place. We rallied around them earlier in the season when they had lost 4 games by a total of 99 points. We rallied around them last offseason when we sold 14,000 more season tickets than last year. We’ve come a long way, but what has propelled us is not the fact that they are in first place, but the fear that we could lose our team.

Jags avoid the word “sellout”, hoping to attract some last minute fans with the $7 tickets that include free beer and burgers.

I took the article to show surprize that the folks in Jacksonville own a TV – or do they bring in cruise ships equipped with TV’s?

Congratulations Jacksonville. Its amazing that in other cities like Tampa & San Diego they can’t sell out. I didn’t mention the Bills or Bengals because they suck.

I’m sure coach hoodie would rather see it be #12-18 range so he can trade back and be the only team drafting in the second round.

Do they really have $7 tickets in Jacksonville? I would go as a neutral fan for $7.
