Giants stranded on the way to Minnesota

Giantsairport

Perhaps the Giants should have flown to Minnesota a little earlier.

Giants vice president of communications Pat Hanlon revealed on Twitter that the G-Men are currently hanging out in the Kansas City airport because the airport is closed in Minnesota.   There is a blizzard in Minneapolis and it’s expected to continue snowing until midnight.  The team may wind up holding their walkthrough at the airport.

At this stage, it’s unclear when the Giants will be able to finish their journey.  SI’s Peter King and Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune speculated that perhaps the Giants could fly in Sunday morning, with the game being moved back three hours.

The only Giants player that stayed behind in New York was tackle Shawn Andrews.  That means center Shaun O’Hara, who is doubtful for the game, has a shot to play.

God’s way of giving Brett a few extra hours to heal.

Stupid New Yorkers, don’t you realize when MN is predicting a BLIZZARD it’s quite possibly an honest to goodness true BLIZZARD?! This will work in the Vikings favor, hanging out at an airport for hours on end takes a lot of out of you mentally, and Leslie and crew should plan to capitalize.

A Giants loss and Packer win over the lowly Lions is a Christmas gift for the on-the-bubble Packers, so this calls for a preemptive “you’re welcome guys!”

Stupid question: Why are they in Kansas City?

  4. pudgalvin says: Dec 11, 2010 2:54 PM

Why, I had no idea there was a blizzard happening over 50% country today. Nice work Giants.

Things could get real ugly because that is not a fast moving storm. How about flying them to chicago before it gets too late and taking them to Minny in four wheel drive luxury utility vehicles? Enough LUT’s (Copyright on the term pending) could be rented and it could launch both the term LUT’s and myself into 15 mins of getting photos sexted to me from Jenn Sterger.

I give it 3 hours tops before Tom Coughlin is wasted and peeing on the floor in TGI Friday’s.

Blow the roof off the dome just this weekend and play that game in the blizzard……..OLD TIME FOOTBALL!!!

Sorry LUV’s not T’s, was typing without glasses and while talking on the phone. So very sorry, LUV’s. Still trade mark pending btw.

(Makes me glad I am in SoCal where it is warm and sunny.)

But the bigger question is, can Brett throw?

  11. timegambit says: Dec 11, 2010 3:06 PM

They have sled dogs in Kansas City, don’t they?

Be in Minny by noon or forfeit.

  12. 4sacroc says: Dec 11, 2010 3:07 PM

Who’s their travel secretary, George Costanza?

    Costanza! Get in here!

  13. thejuddstir says: Dec 11, 2010 3:08 PM

The dumb bastards should be required to forfeit if they can’t get to Mpls. Yesterday, Coughlin was asked about the pending blizzard in Minnesota and he said he wasn’t worried about it and that the Giants wouldn’t leave a day early (Friday) to avoid any problems and he said, no………..the weather service has only been talking about this midwest blizzard ……ALL WEEK.

  14. ncoolong says: Dec 11, 2010 3:10 PM

I live in the Minneapolis suburbs, and it’s about as bad a storm as I’ve ever seen. They may as well get on the bus now, cuz it doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon.

  15. kolbfan says: Dec 11, 2010 3:16 PM

Andrews stayed behind to protect the fort.
    Hysterical

  16. demolition510 says: Dec 11, 2010 3:18 PM

If they don’t show up, it’s gotta be a forfeit. Yup.

  17. phoenix1966 says: Dec 11, 2010 3:23 PM

George Costanza must have booked the flight!

  19. packersofgb says: Dec 11, 2010 3:32 PM

Jagged, I’m no Rocket Surgeon, but my guess is that since the Minneapolis airport is closed, that means they would not allow the plane to land there and diverted them to an airport that was open instead.

Storm being predicted all week, and the Giants aren’t smart enough to leave a day early……I say rename them the Mental Midgets.

    Packersofgb;

I’m sure glad you are not a Rocket Surgeon.

Even more glad you are not a Rocket Scientist or Brain Surgeon cause i would feel very sad for NASA and your patients.

  23. thehatefulnerd says: Dec 11, 2010 3:55 PM

Apparently it’s not snow, it’s “freezing fog.” Looks like snow to me though. Could end up playing this one on Monday night.

  24. edenprairieballer says: Dec 11, 2010 4:01 PM

This blizzard is crazy! ive never seen anything like this in Minnesota. Spent 2 good hours on the snow blower this morning and there is already 6 more inches…… time to break out the Maker’s Mart and enjoy this blizzard the old fashioned way!

  25. luvmesmchiefs says: Dec 11, 2010 4:04 PM

I live in KC so I am not trying to take a shot, but cant think of a more boring airport with less to do than here. Definately drains you mentally having to spend more that 30 minutes there. Might want to think of an alternate plan before players and coaches consider taking their lives.

Let me tell you, this is a REAL storm.I live an hour North of Minneapolis.Just got off the lake with my fresh walleye and had to use GPS to find my way off.Biggest storm since 1991.

New York, you guys are dumb as they come.Professionals would have been here early, you are jokes. Should cost you a forfeit.

We all know the truth though, this is God letting Baby Cheesus rest that arm just a little longer to keep the streak alive!

  29. mikemnz says: Dec 11, 2010 5:17 PM

Pervy? Werent you going to Alaska crab fishing and giving up on the vikings for the year?

  30. sailor6147 says: Dec 11, 2010 5:46 PM

If these rich cry babies had chartered a bus when they found out about their situation, they would be in Minneapolis by now…….But apparently they are too good for that!

  31. responsiblechild says: Dec 11, 2010 5:56 PM

Go(o)dell ordered this storm to protect Farve..The NFL also announced that the G-Men may select fans from the crowd to replace their team and coaching staff…

I’m in Chicago and both O’Hare and Midway are running just peachy. Why Missouri?!? Plus, I agree with other people they should all just pile on a few buses.

I had to fly in and out of there in October for a friend’s wedding… spent way too long waiting to get out, and yeah, nothing to do.

@joebuckiscreepy, nah, there’s not a damn thing in KCI, there’s barely any seats!

Seriously, they shoulda diverted to St. Louis – not like anybody else is using it, there’s a whole extra terminal they coulda stuck ‘em in :p

  38. umrguy42 says: Dec 11, 2010 6:56 PM

Oh, and @barneyrumble, that’s still like a 5-6 drive at minimum I suspect from Chicago to Minneapolis, maybe more if the snow is that bad… good thought, but maybe not so practical….

  39. bodybaggame says: Dec 11, 2010 7:21 PM

Wow Pervy……a Real Storm…Like a once every 50 years, oh wait, that is the time Vikings fans gave been waiting….Got the message mixed up
