You and I have different philosophies. I love and support my team. If they're losing, I may criticize the play-calling with other Steelers fans--but I've been with them 33 season through thick and the thin, thin, thin, 80s. But I wouldn't stand by and let some johnny-come-lately jerk run down the Rooneys or Mike Tomlin. Are you kidding?

Like I said--he is to a team what a serial killer is to gangs. He's the loner. It's all about T.O. He'd rat out the gang to save himself, take the last lifeboat on the Titanic and leave a kindergarten class to drown. I don't feel that kind of passionate animosity about many public figures, but I'd rather go back to the losing 80s than have that cancer on the team. What has it bought you? What did it buy Philly or Dallas?

NOTHING.

It's not his place to run down your team. What kind of fan are you? If he were doing that to my guys, I'd be losing my mind wanting him kicked to the curb ... then hoping someone would run over him.

Can you elaborate on which bad decisions by ownership you’re eluding to?

L. Coles, Antonio Bryant (7. whatever million and didn't even practice for more than a couple of days), not firing bratkowski, not hiring a GM...need I go on? lol

No, the Bengals’ many problems are not T.O.’s fault. But as someone pointed out, his function is to play wideout, not to publicly air the problems of a team he only joined five minutes ago or to rub salt in their wounds. This guy is to team play what a serial killer is to gangs. I suspect he’s secretly glad the Bengals are imploding because it means more attention for him. Whether or not he ever admits it, #85 probably regrets initiating the plan to bring this viper into your locker room. It poisons everything it touches.

-------------------------------------------------

You're absolutely off of your rocker. I disliked the idea of picking T.O. up. However, he has been one of the couple bright spots on our offense this year. He hasn't really said much before this incident. He's only speaking the truth. If I were on the team, I'd do the same thing. It's not like he's whining that he's not getting the ball. He's not whining b/c he isn't getting the attention. He's pissed b/c we aren't winning and we should be. So he's calling out the play callers, the decision makers as well as those executing the plays. I love it. The season can't get any worse and he's gone after this year anyway. What does he have to lose? He could easily retire and live a fine life but chances are there will be a team who will pick him up. It may be b/c of an injury and a team is desperate, but he'll always be an option.

He didn't mouth off about Buffalo last year because he was in the NFL equivalent of Siberia. The Bills weren't in contention and weren't a media magnet. I posted when the Bengals first talked of signing him that it would be a different story once he landed with the reigning division champs in the volatile AFC North where #85 ensures there's always a mic nearby. Said he'd stab the whole team in the back for 2 seconds of airtime ... and he has.

@bengalsdouche ...

Ours is a highly competitive division. With offseason changes, I fully expected the Steelers and Ravens to be stronger this year. And based on their late-season 09 performance, I expected the Browns to be improved and the Bengals to take a step backward.

Ok, sure. That sounds intelligent.

The inconsistency and utter collapse of Carson Palmer is entirely the fault of Terrel Owens. Also the complete meltdown of the Defense, yeah, all Owens.

I mean, not only is he the only wide receiver on the Bengals, but he's the defensive coordinator, so yeah, that makes complete sense.

Here is the point:

Owens is wrong, Owens is right. Who cares?
His job is to play wideout and play up to his contract or better. It is not to constantly cause distractions, criticize the work of others and constantly complain.
The constant jabbing has a negative effect on an organization, whether a team, a business entity, a couple. All the same. If he spent more time on helping instead of promoting himself with the other loudmouth underachiever, they might be closer to what they were last year. Funny how Palmer's game goes downhill upon signing Owens. Funny how it was McNabb's fault for throwing up in the big game. Funny how Garcia was persecuted by Owens. Funny how Romo was always "throwing to Witten" as accused by Owens. Funny how the 49er Coordinator was attacked by Owens on the sidelines verbally. Funny how Owens got body-slammed by a Dallas DB for dancing on the Dallas Star. Why does anybody pay attention to this buffoon? He drops more passes than anyone in the league, poor hands, runs wrong routes, and causes his teams to underachieve. The guy has loser on his forehead. If any team signs this windbag next year, they guarantee themselves futility as his history has proven. They will deserve it as they would have to be dumb, blind and stupid.

Man the ignorance of Steelers fans on here is amusing. You of all people should know how defunct this organization is. Yeah we swept the division last year, but horrible coaching and bad decisions by ownership made it where we almost got swept this year. We got away from the run, problem #1 since we have a god awful QB and a horrible OC with old school plays. Not T.O.'s fault that our QB is washed up and our OC doesn't belong in the NFL. Mike Brown inherited a playoff team in 91 and we've only been to the playoffs twice since and haven't won a playoff game. So yes, it's the ownership and coaching's fault that we are in the mess we're in. You guys are ignorant.

Mike Brown inherited a playoff team in 91 and we’ve only been to the playoffs twice since and haven’t won a playoff game. So yes, it’s the ownership and coaching’s fault that we are in the mess we’re in. You guys are ignorant.

There's 2 kinds of people posting here -

People who are don't know what they're talking about, badmouthing Owens based on his history with the Eagles and Dallas.

or

People who actually know something about the Bengals, and understand that Owens is right on the money.

You guys need to understand, and this is no exaggeration, Mike Brown, the Bengals owner, has stated in the past that 8-8 is a winning season. He has also said that from an owners standpoint, winning the Super Bowl is a bad thing because all the players will want more money.

He surrounds the team with staff that is directly related to him, or who understand that they have no real say in team management.

The Bengals are nothing but the Brown family trust fund.

Say what you will about Owens, but if you think he's a problem in Cincinnati, you have no idea what you're talking about. Surprising? Sure. But really, he's not the issue.

Same owner, same management as last year, you're all right about that. But to think that Cincy fans haven't been down on Mike Brown since the great Paul Brown turned it over to him, you can't live within 100 miles of here. As a fan from the inception of this team, they have been the model of mediocrity since PB has been gone. Think about this, with few exceptions we have fielded the same team as last year. The primary difference has been emotion. Last year's Bengals dealt with a lot of adversity with the death of a teammate and a coach's wife. Sad to think it takes such tragedy to get the juices flowing, but what do you expect when your coach stands stone faced on the sideline win, lose or draw. Give me Brian Billick and a true GM.

The Bungals play in one of the toughest divisions in all of the NFL. Seems to me they had a very good record last year and made the playoffs.......what changed????? They added a cancer to their roster in the name of T.O. A winning team/record is not a priority of T.O.'s, it never has been. It's always about "give me the damn ball". Earlier this year Ced Benson complained publicly about how the Bungals problems were due to the fact that they had got away from the running style that made them so successful last year......and he is correct. T.O. has burned every team he has ever been with and for a Bungal fan to drink his kool-aid says a lot about the football intelligence of the fans.

I have a hard time listening to some of you Bengals fans saying T.O. is only saying what you fans have been saying for a while now. You haven't been bad forever. In fact, last year you swept the division.

Everyone wants to blame the owner and coaches for a bad season--but sometimes things just go bad and there is no real explanation. It's not like you got your butts kicked every game this season--the scores were close and you almost won, so you're not horrible in that sense. That's what happens in football. One team wins and one team loses, and unfortunately (but fortunately for my team) you were on the losing end.

FinFan68, Trust me, we were all talking about the coaches and owner last year as well. Worst offensive game plans anyone has ever seen, as well as the decision by Mike Brown to sign L. Coles. They won the division in spite of the offensive calls (We Bengals fans just love watching 4 yard routes on 3rd and 6 situations).

It was said earlier in this post, and I have joked about it for years but I think it may be true...Bob Bratkowski must have some incriminating info on Mike Brown, otherwise there's no way he'd still have his job.

2 winning seasons in 20 years, man that's depressing.
