Antonio Gates doubtful, again

Antonio Gates

Chargers tight end Antonio Gates could be missing another game, due to a lingering foot injury.  Gates is listed as doubtful for Thursday night’s home game against the 49ers.

Gates missed Sunday’s 31-0 win over the Chiefs.  One of the stars of that game, receiver Malcolm Floyd, is questionable with a hamstring injury.  Also questionable are linebacker Brandon Siler (ribs), guard Louis Vasquez (neck), and safety Pat Watkins (knee).  Defensive end Jacques Cesaire (knee), defensive tackle Antonio Garay (ankle), tackle Marcus McNeill (knee), and receiver Legedu Naanee (hamstring) are probable.

Out for the Chargers are receiver Patrick Crayton (wrist) and linebacker Larry English (foot).

For the 49ers, kicker Joe Nedney (knee) and tackle Joe Staley are out.  Linebacker Navorro Bowman (hamstring), linebacker Takeo Spikes, and linebacker Patrick Willis (hand) are questionable.  Tight end Nate Byham (shoulder), guard Mike Iupati (shoulder), running back Brian Westbrook (not injury related), and running back DeShawn Wynn (ankle) are probable.

UPDATE:  The Chargers have corrected their original report.  English is now listed as doubtful.

Westbrook and Wynn are probable you mean…..cause I’m not sure what probably means in football injury related terms.

I know he’s a pro athelete and all, but I had the same injury he did (ruptured PF) and I was out of activity for FOUR MONTHS. I think it’s nearly miraculous he’s running around playing even a little slower at all. Give the guy a few weeks off and get him ready for the playoffs.

Just a shout out for a 9ers win!

Hopefully San Diego can start their play-off choke job a few games early this year!

Why, what are you losers gonna do in the playoffs, other than choke like usual?

    Lords of no rings.

Can we PLEASE get some real info on Malcom Floyd? Is he hurt bad. Will he make it through the entire game?

Maybe the chargers should rest Gates and the others for the big move to LA.

    @joetoronto

    Go away

Apparently joetoronto wants us to believe he’d prefer ‘his’ team, the Raiders, lose at least eleven (11) games a season for seven (7) straight seasons (an NFL record).

    A) Your Raiders haven’t won a Super Bowl since before I was born, and I’m in my mid-20’s.

    B) Your Raiders have the worst record in football for the last few seasons, worse than historically awful teams like Rams, Chiefs, Browns and Lions.

    And

    C) While my Chargers might leave me broken hearted by fleeing San Diego, at least our owner is not senile and makes proper business decisions, not emotional gut decisions like Al Davis which make the team worse, year after year.

Only the Raiders look at a 6-7 record as a positive thing, because they are accustomed to being 2-11 at this point in the season. They beat the Bolts twice this year (after losing 13 straight to us), so they already played and won their Super Bowl this year.

    Raiders; a commitment to excrement.

Too bad, you should’ve kept reading. That 20 something just handed your ass to ya.

    Punk.
