Ravens kick returner David Reed and Cardinals kicker Jay Feely both scored touchdowns in their teams’ Week 14 victories, and both have been named special teams player of the week.
Reed had 233 kickoff return yards in the Ravens’ 34-28 overtime win at Houston. That included a franchise record 103-yard kickoff-return touchdown, and 233 kickoff return yards are the second most in a game in Ravens history.
Reed, a rookie fifth-round draft pick from Utah, leads the NFL with a 29.9-yard kickoff return average.
Feely got the NFC special teams player of the week honor after he became the first player in NFL history to score a touchdown and kick five field goals in a game as the Cardinals beat the Broncos 43-13.
His five-yard run on a fake field goal made him just the fourth kicker since the AFL-NFL merger to run for a touchdown. He also had four extra points, and his total of 25 points was the second best for a kicker in NFL history.
During one stretch of the game, Feely scored 22 straight points: a 36-yard field goal, a 48-yard field goal, the touchdown and subsequent extra point, a 55-yard field goal, a 23-yard field goal and a 49-yard field goal. That was the most consecutive points any player has scored since Paul Hornung scored 24 in a row for the Packers in a game against the Colts in 1961.
