Have to say I never recall seeing you post anything like that before. I just get so tired of that issue always being raised with McNabb because of something one boob said years ago. ESPN had no business hiring a political guy to do sport analysis; of course, he was going to try to create political controversy–that’s his schtick. Unfortunately for Donovan, he was the fall guy and it’s going to follow him forever..

I know Donovan has slowed down. That’s the natural progression of things. But Shanahan has really been jerking him around. I grouse about the Pack forcing out Favre and Reid dumping McNabb, but truth be told, I understand. You’ve got aging icons who still have more in the tank. But you’ve also got the future of the franchise getting antsy on the bench. It’s business. You can’t afford to lose the future to be loyal to the past. It’s an awkward position, and I don’t envy the coaches having to make that decision. (Wouldn’t have dumped McNabb for Kolb, but Vick’s a different situation.)

But Grossman??? Please. Shanahan’s like the maniacal masterminds in the old Bond flicks. He’s not evaluating talent. Grossman’s been around long enough to get plenty of look-sees. Shanahan’s just making a power play to show Donovan’s who’s boss. It’s Haynesworth all over again. I thought Haynesworth was being a jerk. Now I’m not so sure. The little dictator seems pretty petty from my perspective. I would like to see Donovan go to AZ. Whis is a QB’s coach.

I don’t have a problem with race…never have. That comment was in response to the many racist comments that show up on the articles involving McNabb’s poor play or benching. I agree, Shanahan could have handled things better but the facts are that McNabb does not have the confidence of his coach and the coach is trying to see what he has in the other guys. The contract stuff was to McNabb’s benefit not his detriment and that is why he signed it. They have not told him that he would definitely be back so they wrote the contract in a way that virtually guarantees he could not feasibly be traded. If they don’t want him back, they will cut him in the off-season and he will be free to choose his next team, rather than be forced via trade to play somewhere he does not want to be, like Buffalo.

is Shanahan senial? seriously thought he used to be a good coach, now i think he got lucky more then anything else. who would have thought a coach could take a team and attack every facuet that he could. well its good for the rest of the league, i just wish they would have imploded before they played the bears..

Maybe Reid doesn’t get enough credit for how well he coaches QBs. Ever stop to think about how his QBs perform? Favre is a hall of famer and he squeezed what many think is a borderline HOF career out of McNabb (even though I disagree). He also made Jeff Garcia look great, made AJ Feeley look so good they got a 2nd round pick for him, Made Vick an MVP candidate, and Kolb into a promising QB. Pretty impressive.

I’ve watched McNabb for 11 years. After the first 3 years in Philly there ALWAYS seemed to be drama surrounding him. The Eagles trade him and now the drama is in DC. What’s the common denominator here?

Ultimately, both are over-hyped because they’re guys who give good interviews. Much like Rex Ryan. Another guy who is overexposed.

Why would you sign a QB to a multi year extension only to bench him a few weeks later. Finally a franchise that is more dysfunctional than Cleveland. I think people need to look long and hard at Shanahan in Washington. To be honest after Elway left Denver he has been garbage. Sometimes coaches’ successes are products of players they are given. ( see: Eric Spoelstra).

Did anyone say it was a mean white coach picking on a black QB. Seems the color issue is your problem. Shanahan has been behaving like an overbearing jerk who can’t make up his mind. If they didn’t like the way McNabb was doing his job, they shouldn’t have given him that big contract extension–which they’ll, no doubt, screw him out of. If your employer played with your head that much, you’d be a little miffed, too. Judging from your racist comments, if he were black, you’d be really miffed. But you could always call into Rush’s radio show and commiserate.

In this episode of the Shattering Shanahans, we’ve discovered that the Redskins have given up on the season. Donovan McNabb is being prepared for Trade Opportunities next year. The rest of the team is upset because they have realized the Shanahans are playing for a draft pick next year and the players are expected to give their all. Assuming there is a draft.

Guys, McNabb and Shannahan were doomed from the start. As people, they are opposites. You can bet each can’t stand the other’s way of doing things. McNabb will probably be better off elsewhere anyways, as will the Redskins.

It’s starting to look more and more like that “long-term” contract he signed was just for public perception. I don’t think Shannahan ever really intended to keep McNabb unless he drastically improved his game.

The way the defense is playing, and the rest of the team in general, they can have Tom Brady start and still lose all the remaining games they have left. So who cares if they bench McNabb to find out if the back ups have what it takes to maybe stay on the team next year? McNabb is playing mediocre at best, so if Rex or Beck can go in and light it up, we know McNabb is done. If not (and more than likely) McNabb isn’t the issue, and needs a better team around him. I hope they can get V.Jackson from SD next year. And the Raven’s Defense.

The Eagles received two draft picks for McNabb, a 2nd and i think a 4th, which if i remember correctly was conditional, and could have been a 3rd if he reached certain incentives with the Skins, so maybe the rat is holding him out so he doesn’t have to give up a 3rd.

Seriously, what is the big deal here? Skins going nowhere, let’s see what the rest of the roster looks like against starters in game conditions. Shannahan knows he has a major rebuild on his hands and wants to start now.
Finally, why all the fuss over McNabb? He has been average for years.
