NFL hands down fines for hits on Tarvaris Jackson, Reggie Bush

It’s Friday evening in the NFL, which means it’s time for players to find out their paychecks have been docked.

Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora is today’s big winner with a $12,500 fine for hitting Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson in the head and neck late in Monday night’s game.

Other fines include Rams safety Oshiomogho Atogwe getting a $5,000 fine for grabbing Saints running back Reggie Bush by the helmet on a tackle and Vikings cornerback Asher Allen getting a $5,000 fine for unnecessary roughness for a hit on Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw.

Two players on the Broncos’ defense were fined for hits illegal hits in the game against the Cardinals: defensive end Kevin Vickerson was fined $7,500 for a horse-collar tackle and defensive back Syd’Quan Thompson was fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness.
