McNabb cannot be traded, that contract is far too back-loaded and inflated. It's NBA-ish.

And since Shanahan has mismanaged the situation, who would doubt that he'll eventually be cut? It's clear that the Skins don't plan on using him next season.

Teams will wait them out. You won't even get a 7th rounder for him.

Queue the self-hating Eagles fans who only want to bash McNabb. Hey Eagles fans, Donovan finally had after 5 years of waiting, someone to throw to besides Westbrook. Then you cut him once he gets Jackson, McCoy, and Maclin.
He gets sent to a team that has no great Wr to speak of, and no RB. How is he supposed to do anything with that?

Am I wrong but didnt he have all those guys in 2009 and did nothing with them? And didnt he fail to get it done with Westbrook in his prime? And didnt he fail to get it done with T.O. in his prime?

Everyone claiming Mcnabb is the Vikings qb next year needs to take a step back. Mcnabb lives in Arizona and the only reason they didnt go after him this year is bc they had to give Leniart his shot.

If Im Mcnabb I would pick Arizona over Minnesota he would have a lot better chance to make it to the playoffs if he went there. Minnesota has to compete with the Packers n Bears for the division while the Cardinals play in the easiest division in the NFL.. He would also have better weapons on offense to throw to. Fitz n Breaston is alot better then Rice n Berrian and Adrian isnt a good receiver out of the back field. Plus the guy that had the real connection to Mcnabb in Minnesota was fired. And even though Frazier was an Eagles coach he was a defensive guy and there is no gurantee he will be back next year.

So dont get ahead of yourselves guys I think if Mcnabb gets traded he has a better chance of going to Arizona then Minnesota.

Where are all you Redskins fans at talking about how the Eagles are going to regret trading Mcnabb to Washington and how they were going to be in the basement bc of it?

I havent seen to many Redskins fans telling Eagles fans to "Hail" lately.

Shannahan hasnt been a good coach in 10 years and Mcnabb hasnt been a good qb in 6. The Redskins have the most dilusional fan base in the NFL year in and year out.

I bet next year after the Redskins pick up a free agent or 2 you guys will be right back where you are every year claiming that the Redskins are the team to beat in the NFC East and when it doesnt happen you same fans will claim, once the season is over, that you never said that like you do every year .

whoever said the bears had a solid o-line didnt watch any footbal that year. oh yea ninjaplease, rex also passed for 3300 yards and 23 tds. so lets not act like he did nothing. he had 11 games with a rating over 100. so he did have bad games yes but he also had great games

read your comment again and see the hypocrite remarks you just made. 3,300 yards and 23TD.. yeah.. because he had such a horrible offensive line right? A line that didn't give him any time to throw any of those 3,300 yards.

Deadskins love to point the finger... now I wonder who Shanahan's gonna blame next

Skins fans a couple of things. If donny boy was a top flight qb he would be doing what tom brady is doing in NE. He is working with less than stellar wide outs why can't D McNabb. And your season is over let's take a look at other guys and see if McNabb is the answer long term, I always thought arizona was a better fit but what do I know. But I know Rex has been to as many super bowls as McNabb. And when hes hot he can torch defenses. for example the year the bears went to the super bowl he led the nfl in games with 100+ qb rating(11) but that year he also led the league in games with a qb rating under 50 so I guess you have to take the good with the bad.

And yet, Vick and Cliff Lee can't stop talking about how they love us Philly fans.

Why don't you go boo McNabb at a Wizards game?

I am feeling very vindicated today. That's all.

Ya know why?

BECAUSE SOMETIMES PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES IN THEY LIVES.

Yep, sometimes they do. And when you mouth off like that, you better make sure you never end up as the 3rd sting QB behind Rex Grossman on a god-awful team.

Because then someone like me might come back and mock you for having mouthed off without backing it up.

And unless you are from the city limits, I could care less what you think. At all.

I know that I'm a member of the best fan base in America. That's what Cliff Lee says. That's what Iverson says. That's what Vick just said today.

Does anyone else notice that the national press is far more enamored with McNabb than local beat reporters are? That the more you see of McNabb, the less impressed you tend to be?

That’s why he was a washout in Philly, where McNabb is still better understood and more honestly graded than in other places. The closer one gets to McNabb, the more repulsed you get. His reaction alone to this benching and to being “disrespected” in other instances is indicative of the fact that McNabb feels entitled to being the franchise QB, but doesn’t seem to think he needs to earn it.

Ask the guys he’s played with, and many of them will tell you that he’s not a winner, not a leader, even if he does know how to handle the media. He says all of the right things (in public) but enough garbage overflows from this dumpster either through his agent or his family etc. to show his true nature.

McNabb is the kind of QB who would rather have a good game and lose than be a team player on a championship squad. And that’s why he’ll be looking for a new job in 2011.

What did McNabb do to you?

Did he rob your house?
Did he break your sister's heart?
Did he overbid you by $1 on The Price Is Right?

Even for a bitter Negadelphian, your hate for McNabb is comically exaggerated. What do you save for actual bad players? You are a caricature and an example of the reason Philly fans get a bad rap.
To those IDIOTS who think that Rex is worthless, do you think the Bears went all the way to the Superbowl by Rex being terrible??

Anyone who considers Rex terrible without giving him a chance in this offense is a damn fool and racist.

Rush was RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

I have a HUGE amount of respect for Shanahan now. A coach who made a huge mistake but instead of stubbornly trying to prove themselves right, is admitting a mistake and doing something about it.

Kudos!!! Dan your team is in the hands of a great coach. Don't worry....

Does anyone else notice that the national press is far more enamored with McNabb than local beat reporters are? That the more you see of McNabb, the less impressed you tend to be?

That's why he was a washout in Philly, where McNabb is still better understood and more honestly graded than in other places. The closer one gets to McNabb, the more repulsed you get. His reaction alone to this benching and to being "disrespected" in other instances is indicative of the fact that McNabb feels entitled to being the franchise QB, but doesn't seem to think he needs to earn it.

Ask the guys he's played with, and many of them will tell you that he's not a winner, not a leader, even if he does know how to handle the media. He says all of the right things (in public) but enough garbage overflows from this dumpster either through his agent or his family etc. to show his true nature.

McNabb is the kind of QB who would rather have a good game and lose than be a team player on a championship squad. And that's why he'll be looking for a new job in 2011.

@Ninjapleazee:
I am not saying Grossman is better than McNabb. I am only saying, based on McNabb's performances, that a benching is not unwarranted and much of the "Grossman sucks" is based on a few games of poor performance. If you took his best performances he would look great. He is not a long-term solution, but how could he do any worse than McNabb? You forgot to mention that juggernaut of a receiver Justin Gage...and the O-line was far from solid the QBs have been running for their lives in Chicago for almost a decade.

And tednancy, FinFan68, ummm...Chicago native and lifelong Bears fan here, and, uh, Grossman is not, absolutely not underrated. Yes, he had that weirdly spectacular start to the '06 season, but that was before defenses knew that anything they did other than stack the box and wait for Thomas Jones or Cedric Benson to tackle would rattle him. To say that turnovers would occur at the most inopportune times for him is like saying the sky is blue, the grass is green, and Miley Cyrus's salvia trip is the first of a long list of regrettable decisions. From Grossman, turnovers flow with same inevitability as high tide on the muddy banks of the Wishka.

If you seriously think Rex Grossman is better than McNabb... you need help. Rex did NOTHING for the Bears during his tenure. 20 picks then asked to come back from one more season.. and failed again with 7 picks before getting benched for good.

If you're asking who Grossman had to throw to.. Berrian and Muhammad and a SOLID offensive line with a stellar defense. The defense brought them to the Superbowl.

First, never hire your kid to be daddy's offensive coordinator...that has trouble written all over it.

Second, don't sign your free agent QB to a new multi-million dollar contract, then a month later bench him.

Not only is it fair to question Mike Shanahan's decisions, it might be time get him some professional help.

^^^^^

Yeah and how'd he do with those weapons last year? Yeah, nothing.

I loved McNabb when he was here but I see it was Reid that made him look good and not the other way, like Id always thought.

How's he supposed to do anything? Uhhh, NOT OUR PROBLEM ANYMORE.

We got a QB that gets it done, doesn't laugh at a mistake, doesn't pass the buck or whine, and isn't hopelessly thin skinned or passive agressive.

Yeah Skins, hows OUR bonehead trade working out for ya?

AHAHAHA thanks for the draft picks !!!

LMAO! FAIL, FAIL, FAIL !!!!

And for those who think Philly fans are bad...hmmm...

Why'd Cliff Lee reject MORE money from the YANKS to come here?
