McNabb’s play is excused because of the bad offensive line but Campbell’s doesn’t? This is the same offensive line that blocked for Campbell last year.

League source = someone in the Redskins front office trying to get some cover if Grossman doesn’t do well? Probably. This rumor doesn’t make a lot of sense: even if McNabb wanted out of DC (which would be hard to blame him), he knows that the best way to maximize his chances of landing his next contract are by getting out there and playing. Sitting on the bench doesn’t increase his stats any. More importantly, he’s never shown himself to be a shirker or a guy who doesn’t want to play at all times. So, this sounds like someone with motivation to push blame on McNabb.

This is McNabb’s worst year in a long time, but he’s far from the main problem with the Redskins. Ask yourself: who was the last QB who did well in Washington since Snyder’s coaching carousel started spinning? Anyone?

The key to success (as Joe Gibbs proved in his first stint with the Redskins) is to have a superior offensive line. If you have that, you can succeed with mediocore QB and receivers. As a lifelong Redskins fan, I hope they can salvage a draft pick or two with a McNabb trade and concentrate on building the portion of the team they have long been neglecting — the O line.

I don’t get it. If this story is right, McNabb is like the girlfriend demanding an official breakup 5 years after her ex got married.

It’s over, and I think McNabb knows that. He is going to pocket $3.5M more, and then get cut.

No one is going to trade for that contract, so he’s going to have to go out and strike a new deal.

I hope Shanahan shows some class and cuts McNabb loose the first day possible. If you don’t want him, and cannot get a 7th rounder for him given that funny money contract, then just part ways and give him a shot to finish his career somewhere else.

The scenario, it would seem to me, is pretty much set in stone.

I’ll never forget Chris Berman last year after the McNabb trade rumors swirled. He leaned into the camera and wagged his finger at us and said…. “Be careful what you wish for Philly fans”.
That really bothered me but it is just soooo sweet now in perspective.

Here’s the bottom line: McNabb is getting old, but I would take his stock in the NFL before Shanahan’s. If McNabb goes to the Cardinals? That would be a good fit. So would the Vikings.

McNabb is a “system” guy. You have to put him in a system with a good running attack and he’ll do well. He can work with mediocre receivers and make them better. You can have a couple of OK offensive linemen. But you gotta have a good running attack for McNabb to win.

I’m still amazed by the many national media apologists for McNabb….
If you listened to ESPN all the time you’d think he was being crucified in DC.
“Multiple Championships winner, multiple pro bowls, future hall of famer should not be treated like this…”
STILL the national media loves this guy. Could never figure that out…
He’s a bum. Check is career 4th quarter stats. It’s all you need to know.

While McNabb is overrated and has been his whole career, he doesn’t stink. The Redskins O-line, RBs, and WRs all are very suspect. Everyone who thought the Eagles went to 5 NFC title games because of McNabb have no clue. It was there defense led by BDAWK and Jim Johnson that carried that team. McNabb was good but he wasn’t putting the team on his back and willing them to victory. That being said I think Shanahan is very overrated, and should have retired when Elway did. Or atleast after TD blew his knee out.

My question is simply why is Mcnabb the one who is figuring this stuff out… I smelled fish as soon as I heard of the signing, why did his agent not as well? I think the answer is one of two situations: His agent realized what was potentially happening and decided to sent his client up Sh!t creek regardless or his agent is just as stupid as Mcnabb is. Either way, his agent should be fired and replaced by a good investment banker because Mcnabb is not long for this football world.

Just another case of an NFL knowing when to ship a guy off who is used up. The Pats have mastered the art of dumping guys just as the tank is on empty. What the Skins failed to realize is that the Eagles weren’t stupid… they saw D-Nabb and they saw Michael Vick wanting to get unleashed (poor choice of words, sorry) and Vick. The Skins thought the Eagles were over reacting and shoving him out the door too fast. The fact is there was really NO market for D-Nabb and Shanahan didn’t have faith in Jason Campbell to get it done. Truth be told I have no faith in the Redskins receiving corps to get separation from defenders either. Washington is just a grease fire and either everything they touch is crap, or turns to crap shortly there after. I have no idea why that might be.

Name one player the Skins have traded for or aquired via free agency, other than London Fletcher, who has been successful. How could McNabb not have known what the Skins were doing? He didn’t think it was a little odd to get a contract extension after having been benched and having played like garbage for his new team for most of the year? Or maybe he felt like he deserved a “financial apology”….kinda like how he and his agent thinks he should be a starting QB based on his name alone rather than on-field performance.

Mcnabb sucks. Few teams in the NFL would be made better by having him.

McNabb may be older, but Rex Grossman hasn’t proven that he can be a franchise QB. This is all about Kyle Shanahan and his Dad, affectionately known as the man with the Napoleon syndrom.

I am not a Redskin hater, in fact, I am an NFL fan, but the Saints are my home team, but watching the Redskins implode this year after the season last year, leaves me less hopeful that the team will find its way out of the D.C. area.

The offensive line, wide receivers and broken down running backs are all McNabb’s fault? I have watched them play this year and McNabb can put the ball out there for the receivers to make a play and they don’t. That’s McNabb’s fault?

Oh well, at least Albert Haynesworth saw through the BS and revolted….he knew what everyone didn’t….there’s no such thing as “loyalty” in the NFL…..that died when Don Meredith walked away in his prime…so did Jim Brown and Barry Sanders…..connect the dots!
