You see something new in the NFL every year. In one case, the Steelers lost the game and qualified for the playoffs. (?) Go figure.

I wish the Steelers had clinched the second seed by winning the game. But it wasn't meant to be. Give the Jets credit They made more plays than the Steelers did. Since the Steelers are in the playoffs maybe they rest Troy for the next two games?

Nice to know Rex thinks it would be an "embarrassment" if a guy like Marc Mariani (who returns both kicks and punts, and has scored touchdowns of at least 85 yards as both a kick returner and a punt returner) gets that deserved reward instead.

It was a good game but the Jets wanted it more. It will be nice to get Polamalu and possibly Smith back for the playoffs though.

Thank you for the first logical post I've read in awhile. The Jets played a good game and deserved to win. That doesn't mean the Steelers suck. They had a chance to pull it out and couldn't get it done. End of story.

And for all the Sanchez haters..... grow up! This guy has accounted for himself very well in 2 seasons. He's been a stand-up guy since coming in the league. His coach talks a lot of smack but he doesn't. Give the kid some credit.

Why I'm right here, honey. Congrats to the Jets for a well-deserved win. At least we didn't lose because our offense stood on the field looking confused and silly while the clock ran out :)

@japdouds ...

richm2256 is an irrational Roethlisberger hater incapable of reflecting objectively on any Steelers game. Ever see the original movie MASH when they drove Frank Burns away in a strait-jacket? One day richm2256 will be carted off to the loony bin in similar fashion, shouting "Raplisberger!!!"

Special teams did us in yesterday between the kick return and the superior punting. It's always frustrating when Polamalu is missing, but not having Heath Miller was the bigger issue. Matt Spaeth is a poor substitute. I thought the flags on both Flozell and Clark were justified, and personally would like to knock Flozell in the head. That was a costly penalty--and so unnecessary.

Really you wish to see the Pats in the Playoffs??? The Steelers have nothing to beat the Pats, the Ravens do and still got out scored.

Most concerning at this point should be that the Steelers lost 3 AT HOME already this year. And that Polamalu is out AGAIN... he is great but I am absolutely done with the comparisons to Reed. This was game number 19 in 5 seasons for Troy to miss and he is just more likely to add to that this year. Unfortunately wittout him the Steelers are just an okay team. The beginning of the season showed that it is more important for the Steelers to have Troy than it is to have Ben healthy.

The game was over as soon as the Jets got a TD on the opening kickoff because even if the Steeler defense held the Jets to 13 points the rest of the game - which they did - there was NO WAY Roethlisberger was going to score 20. It just isn't in him.

How any steelers fan can harp on the officiating is beyond me. There were no game changing calls. If you ask me the most agregious actions by the refs were two god awful spots that gave the steelers first downs after barely getting 9 yards. Heck one of those spots the steelers needed like 2 yards!

The jets were the better team yesterday and are 6-1 on the road for a reason. Spare me the sour grapes.

Lets be real, the Jets needed it more. the steelers lose and still clinch a playoff spot, they still control their destiny to 1st round bye. can someone tell me why they didn't call the PI on the pass to sanders before the pass down to the 10 to Brown? also, can someone tell me why on the play to the 10yd line, the DB who launched himself, lead with his head and made helmet to helmet contract didn't get called? it should have been 1st and goal at the 5 with 19 seconds left instead of 2 and goal at 10 with 9 seconds.

Although it was a good game by the Jets, .. I have to criticize Arians a bit. His play calling, in my opinion, is terrible. Please take the TE out of the spread offense .... Matt Spaeth was either dropping into the flat or streaking up the middle ...either way, he had NO separation from the defenders. If its a big target you need, ... Use Arnaz Battle. The spread offense worked flawless when it was all WR's in the game. All you need is a WR matched up on one of those LB's. I saw no 'Motion' .... which frees up your receivers from being jammed on the line. WOW! Then the Shotgunformation - Handoff which resulted in a safety!?!? Is this guy trying to torpedoe Mike Tomlin's legacy? If I can quote coach Lomabardi - What the (Blank) is going on out there?

I say the NFL does not want the Steelers in the super bowl. Can you just hear the media from around the world asking Ben questions like
Hey Ben when was the last time you tried to rape someone???? When was the last time you walked around with your junk sticking out???
Does anyone want him to endorse a product for them. I don't think so. He has done nothing to show me he is a better person.

Each game seems to turn on a few plays - and for Steelers yesterday it was same

#1 Kick-Off return at start of game for Jets, THAT was a sin and set in motion the Jets team having confidence to play game

#2 Defense completely missing Sanchez bootleg on the 4th down play

#3 Terrible play-call exposing Moore to get tackled for that safety in our end zone. WHY wasn't Redman running that out of end zone.

#4 Ben totally throwing TOO late to Spaeth at back of end zone, Spaeth was open initially he could have dropped a pass right into him for the game winning TD.

Jets executed better than Steelers yesterday and it hurt.

  Hoculi needs to go! He has blown several calls in crutial situations. Why so long. They looking at the replay? Did they huddle and say, "Goodell is here, we better throw a flag!"

in the first 14 minutes of the game the officials threw 3 flags that were picked up and indicated no foul.

the steelers get a first down on a 9 yard run.....

Not one mention of the these bad officials yet again.... at what point will the media start questioning the officials..

I don't care who the calls go for or against this mediocrity needs to be addressed and the NFL wont until the media starts too...

1) Steelers should have attempted onside kick on free kick after safety. Jets were not positioned for it as knowing Rex he probably didnt even know it was legal

2) On final drive, Big Ben could have spiked ball (at 10 yd line) before waiting for all linemen to get set. It wouldve saved about seven or eight extra seconds (for at least one more pass attempt) and the 5 yard penalty for illegal procedure wouldnt have made any difference since he was throwing for the end zone anyway.

Why don't these multi-millionaire players and coaches practice strategy and learn the rules better??

      Roethlisberger SUCKED yesterday. Completed 50% of his passes? And please, that defense made Mark Sanchez look like he belonged on an NFL field.

      He doesn’t.

      I get so tired of hearing the Steelers whine every time Troy Palamalu is out of the line-up. He’s a star, no doubt, but one player should not make the difference to a defense’s success.
==========================
You must not have watched the game. Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense carved up the Jets D. Ben had a good day despite his back-up TE's dropping about 5 passes. And when did the Steelers EVER complain about Troy being out? I've never seen a single player or coach complain that Troy was out.

Finally, learn how to spell Polamalu you moron!
