Some teams are braving the snow on Sunday, although the Jets might be wishing they got a reprieve until Tuesday right about now.
The ball is taking some weird bounces at Soldier Field and they are all going against the Jets thus far. Santonio Holmes fumbled on an end around on the first Jets drive of the game, Chris Harris recovered and gave the Bears the ball in good field position. The Bears moved down the field with the help of a ball that caromed off of Greg Olsen into the arms of Johnny Knox for a 13-yard gain and eventually scored a touchdown to open up a 10-0 lead.
Their touchdown needed no outside assistance, however, as Matt Forte ran through the Jets defense for a 22-yard score. Forte has been running well early in Chicago, with 44 yards on seven carries across the first two Bears drives. The first drive was helped by a Calvin Pace pass interference call, but stalled in the red zone before Robbie Gould hit a 37-yard field goal.
The Jets can clinch a playoff spot with a win on Sunday and can also get in with the help of a loss by either the Colts or Jaguars.
UPDATE: That early lead has vanished like tonight’s game. Shonn Greene scored on the drive following Forte’s touchdown to cap a long drive. Then, 64 seconds later, Dwight Lowery intercepted a Jay Cutler pass and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown. It’s 14-10 Jets with plenty of time to go in the second quarter.
