It’s not too late to get some contract extensions in before labor uncertainty grinds NFL business to a halt.

Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-times reports that the Bears locked up two players on Monday. Defensive tackle Matt Toeaina was rewarded with a three-year extension through 2013. The deal reportedly includes $2 million guaranteed. The total deal is worth $6 million, which sounds like a steal for a defensive lineman in his prime.

The team also signed long-time long snapper Patrick Mannelly to a two-year extension through 2012.

Toeaina has stepped in this year to become an important part of the team’s defensive line. He may not be a full-time player, but has made an impact with the playing time he’s given .

Toeiana was headed for restricted free agency and his role may only increase if Tommie Harris isn’t back with the team next year. It looks like a nice deal for the team.
