A deeply depressing day for the Chargers had one bright spot.
The injury that took running back Mike Tolbert off the field on a stretcher after being immobilized doesn’t sound too serious. Tolbert went home with the team to San Diego and was diagnosed with a neck sprain.
“I wanted to (get up), but they were being cautious,” Tolbert told Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Ryan Mathews replaced Tolbert in the lineup and ran well with 12 carries for 53 yards and a 23-yard touchdown. The Chargers have a lot of things to fix in the offseason, but they are in good shape at running back.
Thankfully, Tolbert apparently won’t have a major rehab after his scare on Sunday in Cincinnati.
