Saints lead at halftime of defensive struggle

P. Thomas1

We expected a playoff-like atmosphere in the Georgia Dome Monday night and it’s happened. We just didn’t expect such a defensive struggle.

The Saints lead at halftime 10-7 in a game where both teams are struggling to establish their offense. Drew Brees has been terrorized and can’t connect deep down the field. The Falcons rushing game has been held under three yards-per-carry.

New Orleans leads because they took advantage of the one big mistake in the game. Falcons center Todd McClure inexplicably rolled an attempted shotgun snap that was picked up by the Saints. New Orleans scored five plays and 34 yards later.

We have a feeling we’re headed for another memorable finish in this division rivalry.
