Saints celebrate playoff berth on Falcons logo

The Saints have won plenty of big games under Sean Payton, but there wasn’t a road win any bigger than their Monday night thriller in the Georgia Dome to clinch a playoff spot.  They didn’t want to wait to come home to New Orleans to celebrate.

Defensive players re-emerged from the locker room after the game to gather and take group photos at midfield.

“We didn’t want to wait until next week to clinch the playoffs,” Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma told Mike Triplette of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “We wanted a remembrance of this. That’s why we went out and had our picture taken on the Falcon.”

These two division rivals have played five straight games decided by one score.  Their two matchups this season were among the best the NFL has to offer.  Hopefully we get a rubber match in three weeks.

If that happens, something tells me we’ll hear more from the Falcons about where the Saints decided to celebrate.

    god bless america….what a country!

PS – sorry if I offended any of you athiests out there but believe me I am not prejudice. I hate everybody…………….equally, of course.

  2. Somewhere Whinedanlian Thomlinson has tears streaming down his face because of the outrageous behavior of the Saints players. Now if only we find that someone had done the Dirty Bird dance while they were taking those pics LT could work a real good cry up over this.

  3. good they desrve it. after what the town went thru it is our time to shine. we went thru there like shermens army and we got to dance. we will dance in dalas to. who dat we dat! the birds got crushed like road kill just another lame escuse for a football team that we destroyed. and roddy wite is a cheeter

  4. @ihitbombs and dukemarc – you are 2 pathetic, jealous human beings….spending time on the old laptop before returning to your shift at Walmar?….. It is fine for everyone else to insult our franchise, sure, losers, keep thinking we will stand by and say nothing while Roddy White tweets from the ghetto…..get ready for a TWO DAT! Know what that is? Another year of Who Dat, We Dat! Stay classy, losers….

  5. Mr. Crowder, the Fans don’t like paying to see good football and getting crappy football. You live up to your end of the bargain, and we, the fans, will live up to our end of the bargain and have no reason to boo….thank you….Dolphans everywhere…

  6. If you don’t want the opposing team to celebrate on your logo after the game, don’t fumble on the 2 yard line.

  7. Not a fan… Good win, but show some class. Clinching a playoff birth also is not that significant considering Atlanta should lock up the #1 seed next week.

Oh, whatever. The Saints are one of the classier teams in the league – you don’t see any of the players trash talking other teams or saying stupid things, and they are all disciplined. Off the field problems are at a minimum. No divas. I would bet this celebration has a little something to do with a certain loud-mouth WR who said the “Aints” couldn’t come into the Georgia Dome and win one time. Just a little photo on the Falcons logo for some gloating. Big deal.

  9. I’ve realized that Saints fans are the most obnoxious, un-appreciative group of people that I’ve ever seen. The Falcons and Saints just played a hell of a game (that could have easily went the Falcons way), and all I read is how they crushed the Falcons and Two Dat crap. Typical stuff from what I read from Aints fans…

  10. @ rajuncajun Where I come from there are no “walmar’s” and you can’t tweet from the ghetto in new orleans cause there is no wi-fi ( shoes hanging from telephone lines don’t count) . You guys are 1 and done. You won’t get to the big dance. Oops, I gotta go my shift is starting.

Obviously the public school system in New Orleans is still poor. You just destroyed the english language.

  14. @saintsarebest

Hey guys, don’t pay any attention to this idiot. He is a vikings fan in disguise just trying to make Saints fans look ignorant. Move along troll and go back to your shanty, your team is the new door mat of the NFL.

but you cant disagre with what i said who dat we dat

  16. To siantsarebest,

If you’re going to trash talk, it helps your credibility if you can spell your team’s name.

Now get a pencil and write this 100 times:

    Saints
    Saints
    Saints…

Then we’ll work on spelling other words. Baby steps.

  17. would love to see either of your average defenses in Dallas, that is if we make it thru Foxboro first, go stillers!

  18. @tlw109

I guess you weren’t on this site when your fan base was saying the same crap after the Falcons beat the Saints in week 3. Hypocrisy can make a man blind. Falcon fans aren’t obnoxious to Falcon fans. Don’t get me wrong, their much classier than Viking fans but don’t act holier than thou. Atlanta is the 5th largest city in the U.S. and has trouble selling out games without corporate support. New Orleans has zero corporate support and our fan base has shown up for every game since ’06 in the 3rd smallest market in football.

  19. siantsarebest,
You better get off the pc and study.
Your third grade spelling teacher called, you have a test today.

i am not a troll you are a troll and i wuold never like the viking maybe you do but not me and you are a jerk for taking like that are you in school that you have to call names grow up who dat we dat. you have just been owned!

  21. Drew Brees and Sean Payton are now 8-2 over the Falcons in the 5 years they’ve been in New Orleans.

It’s really not much of a rivalry, is it?

  22. As a journalism major, I have now developed a twitch in my left cheek from reading the myriads of errors in siantsarebest’s posts. I have concluded that you are actually a Giants fan. You’re just pretending to be a Saints fan now because chances are New York isn’t making the playoffs, Coughlin is on the hotseat and Manning is gaping in disbelief. I mean, given the spelling of your login name, you could like either team, or maybe you like both. That’s pretty clever I must say.

  23. the Saints defense has been doing this for years. every major road win, they snap a photo. but it’s not like they do it in front of the opposing team. last night the photo was snapped about half an hour after the game ended.

the Saints aren’t the only team that does this, by the way. but at least you didn’t report that they urinated on the Falcons logo like some idiot whose name rhymes with Dete Disco did…

  24. @mikemcsaint

I never said I was a Falcons fan. I understand every team has it’s diehard core fans and the obnoxious bandwagoners. I live just outside of New Orleans and deal with Saints fans every day. The bandwagoners are almost unbearable and some of the diehards have forgotten the past history of these teams. They now expect the Saints to win every game and when they don’t, it must have been the refs fault or someone cheated. It wasn’t long ago that both of these franchises were fighting for last in the division.
