That is the purpose. The NFL decided years ago that you have to interview a black person before you can hire who you want or they will punish you, so black people get sham interviews. Bottom line, skin color is not a job qualification. The intent behind the Rooney Rule is good, but it just doesn’t work. The Lombardi situation is the latest in a long list. Time to do away with the Rooney Rule….if anything, it is actually diminishing black coaching and executive candidates now. Too much attention focused on race and not enough on real qualifications.
