Signed to a one-year deal in Arizona after being cut by the Jets, nine-time Pro Bowl guard Alan Faneca is considering retirement after the season, according to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt says the team is happy with Faneca’s performance overall, even if he’s not the player he once was.
“It can always be better, but I think I’ve done well,” Faneca said.
Faneca, 34, surely was hoping for more wins this year. But he says he’ll enjoy Sunday’s game against the 49ers in case its his last.
“You know you are getting closer to the end than you are to the beginning,” Faneca said. “So you just appreciate the moment and treat it as if it is the last time. I’ve seen guys that haven’t known [it was ending].”
