Roy Williams could be playing his last game for Cowboys

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn’t like to admit a mistake.

That’s partly why receiver Roy Williams even was brought back to the team this year. (Well that, and the ridiculous fact that most of his almost $13 million 2010 pay was guaranteed.)

He probably won’t get brought back again, though. Clarence E. Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram believes Williams could be at the front of the line of overpaid Cowboys veterans that may get cut this offseason.

After a strong start to the year, Williams has 15 receptions for 218 yards and no scores in his last ten games. To put it another way: Williams has fewer yards in 38 games in Dallas than Miles Austin did last year alone.

“It’s disappointing,” Williams said. “I can only do what I can do. I started out nice, then all of sudden I fell off the face of the earth.”

We’ll know that Jones hasn’t learned anything if he brings Williams back at $5.1 million next year. Other veterans that may not be back next year include Marion Barber, Leonard Davis, Marc Colombo, Marcus Spears, Keith Brooking, and both starting safeties.

Please re-read the previous sentence if you want to know why the Cowboys have only won five games this year.
