It sounds like Leslie Frazier is closing in on the permanent Vikings head coaching job.

Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune report that Frazier and the team have been involved in “serious discussions” that may result in Frazier being named the team’s head coach sometime after Sunday’s game in Detroit.

Frazier publicly deferred all talk about his future this week, and owner Zygi Wilf hasn’t spoken in weeks. Behind the scenes, it appears the two sides have been working towards a three-year contract agreement.

With many coaching jobs about to become available, Wilf may want to move quickly before Frazier can interview elsewhere. Still, there are important issues to resolve like how much control Frazier would have over the roster.

Previous coach Brad Childress had a lot of power than could now be re-directed to the Vikings front office.
