That's actually probably the extent of YOUR knowledge.. Other men's genitals, and nothing else.

Wolf took five to get us there idiot. Just because he lasted five more after that doesn't mean it took ten years to build a successful team. In the summer, you were saying this would be the year. Then it was next year. Now it's four more? Give me a break.

I give Thompson credit for his good moves, and I admit there have been quite a few great ones. I also call him out for his failures.

You don't. You toe the company line at all costs. You think Harrell and Hawk were the right picks. You think Starks/Kuhn/Jackson/Nancy/whoever it is this week is the best back we could have.

Your reasoning for all of this? Thompson is an NFL GM, and you aren't, so you can't say anything negative about him. That is so blindly stupid it's mind-numbing.

You aren't the president either, and you obviously never will be, but I've seen you criticize him for a number of his failures. By your own logic, you can't do that. Of course, you and logic don't belong in the same sentence.

So, I am once again done arguing with you. I'm sure we can both agree on hoping this week doesn't end in failure for our team once again. I'll leave on that note..

Beer you are almost singing Thompsons praises. Just the one ring they won under Wolf in ten years vs the none with Thompson in 6 is the kicker? @Beer Cheese Soup
you make valid points, my question to you is who would you replace tt with? I have heard the criticism of tt not pulling the trigger to get that player, but in retrospect he seems to be doing better than most of the gm’s in the league and pulling the trigger to get that special player doesn’t always pan out (Randy Moss, Albert Haynesworth). As a long time packer fan I have come to appreciate the years when the packers are competitive and make the playoffs, hopefully with the core group of young players tt has assembled they will continue to improve and stay competitive for years to come.
_____________

Thank you for your very reasonable assessment. Always nice to meet a civilized fan on here. I agree, Ted does better than most in the league. He has assembled a good core group. He just isn't what this team needs at the moment.

Also correct that there have been a number of FA busts over the years. A good GM should ideally know the difference. Ted did very well with Woodson, He just didn't follow that up with anyone else. There are three ways to build a team these days. Successful franchises, like the Saints, Colts, and Patriots, use all three. Ted only uses one.

If you are a "long-time Packer fan" than you know what winning it all is like. You know the feeling of watching your favorite team hoisting the trophy. After that, you can't honestly say you're satisfied with merely being competitive, getting in on a wildcard and losing early in the playoffs. I'm sure not.

So, to answer your question: who would I replace Ted with? Probably one of his own assistants. Someone who spent enough time watching him work to know what to do, and more importantly, what NOT to do. Someone who can continue the current draft-first philosophy, keep the current scouting department intact, but someone who has the balls to make the one or two bold moves it will take to finally put this team over the top, and bring the Lombardi home once again.

Hey man..save the effort. Beer Cheese Soup has no idea what long term thinking is all about. He is a free agent and trade whore. The elite...like you and I...realize that method of assembling a roster does not work. IE 2010 Minnesota Vikings.....and beyond......

Matthews? Woodson? Did White ever win DPOY in Green Bay? Beer Cheese you are an an embarassment to the Packer fan base. And also your heritage.
____________

Don't act like you know anything about my heritage, you racist scumbag. You don't.

Did White win the DPOY in GB? No. Did he win a Lombardi? Obviously.. Was the ring his stated reason for wanting to come to GB in the first place? Yes.

Would Woodson and Matthews both trade all of their individual on-field awards for the ultimate trophy? I'm sure they would. Would Ted trade his meaningless executive of the year award for just one ring? Of course he would.

Does all of your hype on Ted and various individual players mean anything at all when they all have yet to accomplish that one thing they should all want most? NOPE.

Dude…you have to be the only “fan” of the packers on this planet that think Thompson is getting fired anytime soon.

packerbacker12 says:

What has Thompson done to warrant his firing? His team is 10-6 and in the playoffs for the second consecutive season. It’s hard for a GM to be fired for that.
___________

Second consecutive season, wow... I'm supposed to be impressed?

Learn your history. Ted's teams went to the playoffs four years in a row in Seattle. Each of them ended in the one-and-done that Ted is so famous for.

The Seahawk powers that be weren't any more impressed than I am now, and so they didn't keep him around. A year later, they were in the Super Bowl, and about fifteen bad calls away from winning it.

Why is that now? Because Ted is a one-trick pony. He's a rebuilder. Quite a decent one in fact. He can take any lousy team and make them fairly competitive. He can draft better than most, particularly in the later rounds, and he can build depth. I don't like him, but I will give him all of that.

However, he's completely out of his element once he has a decent team to manage. That's why he never accomplished anything in Seattle. He didn't have the fortitude to pull the trigger and put that team over the top. Even Ruskell (who no one is going to call a top personnel man) accomplished in one year what Ted couldn't do in five.

It's also why he gutted a quality team the second he arrived in Wisconsin. He literally needs to have a rebuilding project. That's all he knows. Now, I'd say he's built the team up fairly well. We have decent talent, aside from a few problem areas he refuses to address. We have great depth.

However, he will still never do what it takes to get that one essential piece to make a run. He won't get that Reggie White type player.

That is why the Packers brass need to take a cue from the Seahawks (though not the current team) and see that Ted has outlived his usefulness. He's done all he knows how. It's time to get someone who knows what to do next.

That's why Ted needs to be fired. Prepare for more Viking-esque playoff failures until that finally happens.

I have to give you props for standing up for your state. I'm glad to know there are actually four working nuts in the entire state of Minnesota. I had my doubts.

But the Badgers? Unless Bronko Nagurski comes back from the grave in prime form, I would say the Gophers will probably go another 80 years before their next Big Ten title. Pathetic program. And the Vikes are the laughing stalk of the NFL. How can you manage both in one city? Are you guys consulting with A Brother's Touch, The Eagle or the 90's when you consider player acquistion?

Dude...you have to be the only "fan" of the packers on this planet that think Thompson is getting fired anytime soon. You and your opinions are embarassing. For Petes sake this is a team with like 7 starters and a half dozen total guys on IR. How is this team in the playoffs? Please answer that. Even knowledgeable Viking fans are seeing that the depth in Green Bay is unbelievable. Who is responsible for acquiring that depth?

Didn’t you turds tell us last year that if we didn’t win it all, it means nothing? That you don’t hang your hat on just making the playoffs? Or regular season games?
____________

That's correct. If the Packers don't win it all, which I'll concede is unlikely, then this is akin to a losing season.

I'd like to think the Packer fans on here know that and are just trying to stick it to the Viking fans, to whom regular season wins and playoff losses ARE seen as achievement (because that's the best they've ever had), but who knows. This site attracts the worst of the worst. Not one team can really say they're well-represented on here.

Beer: verbal beadowns? LMAO He predicts a Packer loss every week, no matter what. How do you not get that? He plays you like a fiddle and for some reason you think you are superior? God, you are an idiot, how do you get so full of yourself?
Once again, you are not allowed to enjoy the playoffs, your hatred for TT disqualifies you. You’ll go ahead and debate otherwise, but how can you feel good about it when you know you have been railing on hin for years? If you were a man of principle, you’d own up to it and not be a hypocrite, of course, bein a packer fan, you can’t help yourself, the whole fanbase is all hypocrites.
_________

I KNOW he predicts a Packer loss each week. How's that working out for him? It's making him look like a total and complete bitter fool, that's how. Yet I'M the idiot when all I do is call him on his BS?

News flash: There is more to the Packers than just Ted. I'm a fan of the TEAM. The team existed long before he was even born, and it'll be there long after he's fired (which should be soon).

Are all the Viking fans who called for Childress' incompetent head not true fans? Should they not have enjoyed your playoff win against the Cowboys last season? I had you as a knowledgeable fan, but now you're starting to look as dumb as Pervy.

Speaking of hypocrites, didn't you call me out just last week for generalizing an entire fanbase? I'm pretty sure you did. Now you've done the same thing.

My turn: All three of the Viking fans who still have the guts to show up on this site these days: congratulations, you're true fans. You need to let this bitterness go and hold your own team responsible for their hilarious failures however. A Packers playoff loss will not give the Vikings a winning season. It's not our fault your team bet the farm on last year and lost. We tried to warn you this would happen.

Erin? Come on you don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of as long as Cutler is QB'ing. At least we know one of Brett's records is going down. 2 very ugly picks and 4 other potential picks dropped. He's an younger, uglier, less charasmatic Favre. Lucky Bears rofl.

How about those TCU Horn Frogs!!! Made WI look STUPID!

Thank you. Might as well book that one as a Packers win there too, given your track record. What a sad state you must be in, each time hoping someone, ANYONE, can end our season like your team never could.

Also, I couldn't care either way about the Badgers, but that was at least a very good game. In the Rose Bowl no less, between two top-ranked. How did the Gophers finish again?

"How about those TCU Horn Frogs!!! Made WI look STUPID!"

Yeah it really makes WI look stupid by making it to the Rose Bowl and losing to a really great team. 21-19 is a tough loss, but you make yourself look desperate and pathetic by saying that it makes WI look stupid.

All I have to say Pervy is SWEEP, PLAYOFFS, and oh enjoy your great draft pick (13th overall, not that great). OWNED for the season!!!!!!!

Beer Cheese Soup says:Once again Pervy, you fail at life just like your team inevitably fails on the field.

Have you finally had enough of these daily verbal beatdowns, or will you be back to share more of your stellar predictions during the Packers’ playoff run?
======================================
Listen old man, you could only dream about my life.

Here is the prediction....Packers ARE going to Philly and going to get beat, one and done! The Vikings won there with Webb but you guys are getting scorched...prepare for your sad ending losers!

Funny how the poster team of the NFL wins this game because of the poor officiating.

So the official can’t see Charlie Peprah holding Johnny Knox in the endzone on 3rd down which would have given the Bears a 1st and goal from the 1 yard line and instead of to settle for a FG, but they are sure quick to throw the flag when Peppers has a clean and legal hit on Rodgers which gives that cross eyed homely bastard a first down.

Come on, the SB trophy is named after a Packers legend. Like that team is not favored? They should be called the Green Bay Black Rhinos. I wish nothing but bad things on that team, they deserve nothing more, and surely nothing less."

This coming from a someone who believes in; The Swamp Ape, Leprechauns, and Frodo Begins.

I am laughing and laughing at this...well done!

Great game...I love close battles where defense reigns. Congrats to GB and kudos to the Bears for playing their starters. Guess Lovie isn't as much like his old buddy Dungy as some people may believe. Last NFC team that had nothing to gain and played their starters in week 17 and lost won the SB (NYG). It was huge for them, most of them admitted that they got momentum from that.
