Hasselbeck, Whitehurst to split snaps at practice

Matt Hasselbeck

One day later, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll still isn’t sure who he will start at quarterback against the Saints on Saturday.

Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst are expected to split snaps when the teams return to practice Tuesday.

“I’ve got to figure it out and make sure that everybody’s OK. We’ll find out where we are in the next day or so and determine that,” Carroll said via Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times.  “We’ll see how our guys are.  Right now our concerns are about health.

Hasselbeck played well against the Saints in Week 11, and Whitehurst might struggle against an attacking veteran Saints defense.  It sounds like Carroll wants to make sure his veteran quarterback is truly healthy enough to play before declaring a starter.

“I don’t need to determine that yet,” Carroll said.  I know that you all want me to nail that for you, but I’m not going to because I don’t know.”

It’s a tough call. The one guy has everything except a good head of hair. The other guy……

I hope he’s just evaluating Hasselbeck’s injury…Surely he doesn’t think Whitehurt gives them a better chance to beat the Saints then Matt? Either way they’re screwed. But I’d love to see them win.
