After Elway’s rookie year, he only went to 5 (count them 1, 2,…,5) Super Bowls (won 2), won 148 games (only 2nd to Favre who was just stat-greedy the last three years), threw 300 TD’s, and passed for 51,475 yards – and most of this came without big time receivers (no Rice, Taylor, etc.) or running backs (no Sanders) for most of the 80′s & 90′s. Heck, many rookie QB’s did better than Elway! But don’t compare him to Tebow before you can remember his body of work. You’re simply an Elway hater because he probably dosed your team with one of his miraculous 4th Quarter comebacks.

I hate the Broncos and I hate John Elway. so thank the Lord that he’s actually running that team. Elway will make Matt Millen look like Ron Wolf, I can’t wait!

Regarding the second and third bullet points, it seems Elway is only making a statement to potential Head Coaches that Tebow will be in their future.

I’ll answer your question for you. It’s Tebow’s faith. The Tebow haters just can not stand it. He was very impressive in all three of his starts and the excuses for the Tebow haters changed after every game.

Tony Dungy said he would have taken Tebow with the 1st overall pick of the draft. The again, what does he know about football.

I just don’t understand this trade Orton talk, even if they’re going full-steam-ahead with the Tebow era. Last time I checked, the world wasn’t exactly teeming with quality veteran backups and there’s still no salary cap to prevent them from paying both. I just can’t see other teams giving up the kind of draft picks or players that would make it rational.

Most of the good coaches will want Tebust, just not as a starting QB. Maybe as a TE or FB.
Its a horrible choice to limit the coach to lead your franchise based on the simple premise that he can play tebust as a QB.
Get the best coach available and let him decide who his QB is. Instead they are going to follow the Al Davis model of how to run franchise, which has worked so well.

Tebow must be one hard worker and humble. It’ll be interesting to see how he progresses since the majority seemed to believe he wouldn’t succeed at QB.

If the kid has the skills and the work ethic all that remains is coaching and development. Can the Broncos do that?

It’s funny how this may be the beginning of the Tebow era in Denver as the Young era closes in Tennessee.

Elway talked to Harbaugh long ago. Then convinced Bowlen to fire McDaniels and tank the season to draft Luck. All this crap about liking Tebow is P.R. If they sign Harbaugh they are going to try to get Luck even if it involves trading Tebow.

The bitter irony is that Tebow was better in 3+ games as a rookie (11 TDs passing and rushing) than Mr El the talking head was playing the full schedule as a rookie (8 combined TDs).

I think he’s right in saying that any coach would want Tebow… but certainly not as a starter. He’s sort of the ideal 3rd QB long-term developmental prospect, he’ll work hard, do everything you ask him to, have a great attitude, etc.

He’s just not going to be a starting calibre NFL QB.

I think Elway knows what he’s doing. As has been said, his father was a scout. Elway owned an Arena team that won a championship. He’s one of the best QB’s of all time.

John Elways isn’t exactly a bag of expired Duracell batteries.

I’m a Bills fan, but so far, I think he’s saying the right things. His first test is what coach he hires. Personally, I think Tebow will be a heckuva player.
