Jets coach Rex Ryan talked up Vernon Gholston throughout Hard Knocks like he was going to break out this season. Five months later, Gholston isn’t even one of the Jets’ best 45 players.
Gholston was a surprise healthy scratch for Saturday night’s game against the Colts. Gholston was joined by fellow Hard Knocks favorites Joe McKnight and Vlad Ducasse on the inactive list.
The Colts’ biggest pre-game news comes with an official transaction. They placed starting cornerback Kelvin Hayden on injured reserve. They signed tackle Joe Reitz from the practice squad.
There wasn’t great news for the Colts on the inactive list either. Linebacker Clint Session, listed as questionable, is out.
Also inactive: tackle Ryan Diem, linebacker Clint Session, offensive lineman Jamey Richard, running back Javarris James, safety Al Afalava, guard Jaimie Thomas, defensive tackle Antonio Johnson, and the aforementioned Mr. Reitz.

Anyone who did not understand why the Steelers got rid of that pot head Holmes should look at what he did on the punt – what an idiot – good riddance
Why don’t the Jets just cut Gholston already?
It would be great if the Pats could sign him and make him into the great player his draft position predicted (6th overall). Think of what BB did with Woodhead, undrafted…He might make Gholston a superstar..
patriots = overrated
jets = x-rated
p.s., suggestion to Gillette stadium PA crew … play as many clips of Mrs. Rex Ryan’s home video next week on the jumbotron (maybe throw in a little S. Holmes too). Yes you will probably get fired. You might even get sued. BUT, you will also earn 15 minuets of well-deserved fame. Time it right, and your name(s) will be right up there with Mark Henderson in Patriots folk-hero lore for years to come.
