Five players who are eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the first time this year have made the list of 17 finalists who will be considered for induction when the selection committee meets on the day before the Super Bowl.

Jerome Bettis, Marshall Faulk, Curtis Martin, Willie Roaf and Deion Sanders all made the cut. They will be joined by 10 others who have been considered before, as well as the two senior nominees, Chris Hanburger and Les Richter, who were announced in August.

The other 10 men who will be voted on are Tim Brown, Cris Carter, Dermontti Dawson, Richard Dent, Chris Doleman, Charles Haley, Cortez Kennedy, Andre Reed, Ed Sabol and Shannon Sharpe.

Eleven semifinalists didn’t make the cut to become finalists: Don Coryell, Roger Craig, Terrell Davis, Eddie DeBartolo, Kevin Greene, Ray Guy, Lester Hayes, Art Modell, Paul Tagliabue, Aeneas Williams and George Young.
