Pookeye – yes, he is a minority and counts as a Rooney Rule candidate.

Why does it matter if a team hires a defensive/offensive minded coach? All that really matters is that he brings in competent coaches on the offensive side of the ball. I never understood a team taking that approach. Hire the best guy and let him bring in guys to handle the side of the ball that isn’t his specialty.

he can always hire ‘Pimp’, I mean Pep Hamilton, the ole Bears QB coach who no one ever listened to….another great Lovie hire…hopefully this Ted Williams guy will get a job soon so Lovie doesn’t want to hire him in the offseason!

The entire Panther franchise needs a shot in the arm on offense, after having all these defensive minded HCs in its history. They might as well try to develop Jimmy Clausen further, and a proven successful QB guru is the answer. For Carolina’s sake, I hope it is NOT Marc Trestman, who is a proven NFL failure.

Are you seriously that blind? The Bears opted not to bring back their defensive coordinator the year after we went to the Super Bowl with one of the best defenses in the league….? No, the truth of the matter is that Lovie Smith is a head case who always had it in mind to hire his friends once he got the power to name his assistants. After the Super Bowl appearance, he got it, and what do you know? The Bears “opt” not to bring Rivera back. Haha, fired is more like it. I’d take Rivera back in a heart beat. The Bears are on their 3rd DC since Rivera’s firing.

I would be willing to bet that Rivera will get a very nice contract. Mr. Richarson demands excellence and is willing to pay those that perform. Carolina will be back in the playoffs
within 2 years.

He goes from a situation where the general manager is a dictator who doesn’t know how to run a club to a situation where they have a clue, though really don’t want to spend much money on anyone.

Good luck to him. Just take a gander at the talent level, just on the starting 11 for offense, between San Diego and Carolina. Good grief. That’s not even funny.
