Flacco isn’t a top 10 QB no matter what partial season stats you use. . .

The reason he has a good playoff ROAD record is because the Ravens aren’t good enough in the regular season to win the division let alone a bye week.

Add to that they are good enough to win wild card rounds and sometime division rounds but nothing more to this point.

Joe Flacco is the most overrated piece of garbage. Most of his passes are to Ray Rice or just a screen pass yet he has one of the most talented receiving cores in the league. On his best day he is still a liability to a strong team. If you think otherwise then you just don’t know football.

Earlier in the year, Joe claimed to be “elite”. I’d say this assessment is closer to the truth, although I certainly believe he has the potential to become an elite QB.
It always surprises me to hear other Baltimore fans attacking this guy so vociferously. Do they not remember the rogues gallery of worthless QBs we’ve had in the past (Scott Mitchell, Stoney Case, Elvis Grbac, Tony Banks, Kyle Boller etc)? The only real player at the position was McNair but he was finished by the time he came to us. This kid is already better than any and all of them. He wasn’t even expected to play when he was drafted.
I hope he takes the next step against the Steelers this Saturday. (As for you guys, you won one SB in spite of Big Ben’s play, not because of it. But he continued to develop into a championship caliber QB and we expect the same development from Flacco. Our rivalry ought to only get better.)

You’re far more likely to see the Ravens fans go back into the caves they came out from because this might be their last chance to ever get to the Super Bowl again.

Wasn’t this supposed to be the year that offense wasn’t going to be the problem in Baltimore? That Flacco, finally, had some weapons around him?

Baltimore
22nd in total offense
20th in passing
14th in rushing
16th in points per game

Now, look at the Steelers, MINUS Ben for 4 games:
Pittsburgh
14th in total offense
14th in passing
11th in rushing
12th in points per game

Yes Flacco was 7th in QB rating but he took 40 sacks too. And, much like Tony Romo, has a penchant for making a really, really stupid mistake when the stakes are the highest.

And there’s that little 0-5 against Ben and the Steelers you might want to throw in there too.

Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco have a similar issue going into this weekend. Either one or the other will shake this off once and for all, or it’s going to be more of the same old.

Joe Flacco is a NICE QB. But NICE doesn’t win you Super Bowls. Beating a “lucky to be in the playoffs” KC team is one thing. Beating the 6 time Super Bowl champs on the road when you’re 0-5 against their starting QB and they are fully rested and 100% healthy minus Aaron Smith is a completely different story.

This isn’t backlash, because I said this even before he said how good he thinks he is: Joe Flacco is a mediocre quarterback who makes bonehead mistakes all the time. He has no real touch. He puts more balls on the ground than wakeup call at a nursing home. At his best, he’s a busdriver with an arm.

Yeah, it was pretty frustrating to watch. We pretty much took Ray out of the game for the first half (as much as we could) but those slants and posts to the middle were killing us.

I’m not sure if you are speaking to me directly about the Steelers – Ravens game but I know the Chiefs D is nowhere near the Steelers D right now. I think the game should be a great one this weekend.

I cant believe the backlash because he said hes a darn good QB. Look at his numbers, look at his performance, he wasnt comparing himself to any other QB cant the guy be confident in his own skills and proud of what he has done in three seasons. He still has a long way to go but i dont see anything wrong with him saying he thinks hes a good QB. And for those idiots who are comparing him the Boller, Im a Ravens fan and i thank god everyday that Klye Boller is no longer wearing the Purple and Black.

A lot of QB’s can throw the ball around haphazardly for stats. Orton, Schaub ect.
But can you perform the few times your called upon in crunch time? Joe does a lot of the time. Thats the true measure of a QB

LOL- Seriously the comments on here sometimes are just so frustratingly off base that I can do nothing but feel for the people who make them. There is NO doubt that Joe Flacco is good. NONE. Joe Flacco is not Marino or Montana or Brees or Manning. He is Joe Flacco. He is one win away from being the all-time (that’s right I said all-time) leader in playoff road victories at the QB position. He was second in the entire NFL (ahead of Manning, Brees, and Rodgers) in passer rating after week 2. (I believe he finished 7th- 9th in the league in that category) I admit his playoff resume has been lacking up until the KC game, but let’s not forget that 2008 was his rookie year and he was banged up in 2009. His game is not perfect, but it continues to get better and better.

My my. Someone is forgetting the AFC championship game where Troy intercepted Flacco for the winning TD or the December 5th game where Troy stripped the ball from Flacco’s hand that gave way to the winning TD. So maybe you mistyped and meant to say his most successful and productive games.

Bunkmcnulty, Yes, Joe did march down the field for a TD. It won the game. No one is disputing that. But wasn’t your first string defense on the field when Ben got the winning touchdown in December? Same thing. What’s your point?

Yeah, our defense helps our offense just like your defense has won games for you? But let’s not discredit Ben for his game winning drive in the SB or his ability to shrug off defenders. Go over to ESPN Insider and read the article where they compare Ben to Brady. Oh, and Ben finished the season with a 97% passing rating—5th in the league (Joe was 7th). He must not be that bad.

I’ll put blind faith in Ben any day to drive down the field for the winning score. I’ll also put blind faith in my defense to stop the other team from scoring. You want objectivity with your team? Then look at the stats: Flacco doesn’t win against Ben. Does that mean you are going to skip the game on Saturday because “objectivity” shows that your team is going to lose? I doubt it.

Joe is a good QB. I will give him props for that. He’s played well in the playoffs on the road. That 4-2 stat doesn’t lie. But you know what else? As good as he is, he isn’t that good when playing against Ben because those stats don’t lie either. 0 wins and 5 losses. Doesn’t matter the score because a win is all that matters.

The point everyone is trying to make is when asked whether or not he thought he was good, he should have given credit to his offensive line and receivers. He should have thanked his coordinator. All QBs think they are good—they should. But they should never say it our loud. Ben always gives credit to someone else. So does Brady and P. Manning. Heck, after the game against you guys, the press asked Polamalu about that great play. He gave all the credit to Dick LeBeau.

Fine 11 QBs better than him and an extra two who could surpass him in a few years. Not that I dislike Flacco at all — he conducts himself very well, but that does not make him a good QB.

E. Manning definitely channels his inner Peyton at times (chokes), but I have a hard time saying I would take Flacco over him.
