So stop acting like the SB is not a realistic goal, especially for a supposed ‘great’ coach.

I’m not sure anyone sees the Eagles as inching closer. Do you really believe our defense is fixable in 1 or even 2 seasons? Because I don’t think it is. And, given Reid’s track record in the draft and the team’s history of impact FA signings, it isn’t realistic to expect such a quick turnaround.

We need 3 more playmakers on defense. Minimum.

But I just think at the end of that you’ll be asking for 4 more.

And no, I have no idea why Fisher is still coaching down there.

As for Cowher, I think there’s a difference between losing to the teams he lost to and the teams the Eagles lost to (Tampa, Carolina).

^^Bill Cowher come to mind? And they gave him 14 years. Reid has 3 years with the Vick experiment. IF it doesn’t produce a championship, dump em both.

I disagree with your theory, because in the case of the Eagles the impact of making the payoffs has not been cumulative.

Anyone else, the team gets there first and loses the game it should lose (like we did to the Rams). Then it gets better and starts winning those games. Then it wins it all.

The Patriots and Steelers built toward that. The Ravens and Jets are building towards that now.

But every year I look at the team and say it’s no better than the team that we lost to in the playoffs.

Every year I see the same weaknesses and mistakes. Same penalties. Same letdowns. And it never gets fixed. We’re treading water, not building towards anything.

I imagine you look at the Ravens, NY Giants and Tampa title teams and think a team can get hot and win it all out nowhere. It can’t. Those teams had FAR better defenses than we do.

Two questions (and I do not know the answer, not trying to insult you):

1) Are you an Eagles fan
2) Do you live in the Phila metro area
3) What age range are you

I have a theory on this.

Unless you are Lurie, I don’t see how anyone could accept your statement. Hey, if I was Lurie, I’d never fire him. But I’m a fan.

To me, the playoff appearance becomes irrelevant the second you get eliminated. No one remembers it after a few years. It’s meaningless. Like the time you almost hooked up with the hot chick. Do you sit back later in life and relive that moment? Nope, you probably forgot about it in a week.

No kidding guy. So could I if was franchised. You have completely missed the point.

According to pro-football-reference.com, exactly 14 coaches in the entire history of the NFL have gotten to the playoffs more than the 9 times Reid has. ALL of them have coached more years than he has. And of those 14, exactly ONE has done better than Reid’s 75% playoff rate (Tony Dungy).

So to me, the question is…if you fire Reid, who are you going to get that is this historically successful? What are the chances that the guy you hire becomes one of those 14 guys? When people call for Reid to be fired, they never consider that it’s very unlikely his successor will do better.

I’m as frustrated as any Eagles fan, and there are things I don’t like at all about the way Reid coaches. But I believe that to a certain degree, winning in the playoffs is a crapshoot. The list of teams who have played in the Super Bowl appears to bear that out. And Andy Reid gives his team more rolls at the craps table than almost any coach in history.

I mean, what did the Steelers win after Cowher? Giants have been a joke since Parcells left.

These are the same people who told me that a B- QB (McNabb) was irreplaceable this time last year.
