Feeling proud of my fellow Pats fans right now… a small measure of happiness can be derived from at least that!

Look… Pats fans out there… they had a better season than you expected. The defense is young and fast and only going to get better. Loaded with picks to get a couple lineman on both sides of the ball. Brady, BB, and Kraft are not going anywhere for several more years… there are many things to be thankful and hopeful about. Wear your Pats gear today and point out to Yets fans that they’ve won nothing yet.

So congrats to the Jets, great game. Great D! See you next year… at least it’s nice to have rivalry and competition in the division again. It’s been a while.

I don’t think you can chalk it up to overconfidence. BB has seen it all in the NFL and I know he tries to keep his team motivated and focused. Now the Jets…they believe their own hype and thrive on it. They’ve got some great players. They backed it up and our Pats have a lot of work to do. Back to the drawing board…

Unfortunately we’re going to have the hot-air bowl next week but it should be a stellar game nonetheless.

- The Jets just used up weeks of emotion leading up to, during and after this game. We’ve all seen through sports history where a team gets drained down and has nothing left for the final game, lor loses the next one. To me, the Jets played this like it was their Super Bowl. You just can’t play with that kind of emotion 3 weeks in a row.

- Troy Polamalu didn’t play in that game, and that’s a big deal. The Steelers defense is not nearly as dynamic when he’s not on the field.

- Brad Smith was inactive last night and he may not be able to go. You may recall, he ran the opening kickoff back against the Steelers for a TD and is a big part of their offensive packages.

- The Steelers had the #1 run defense and was in the top 5 in total defense. Both the Colts and Patriots have good offenses but sorry defenses. The Jets are not going to run on the Steelers like they did the first 2 games of the playoffs. That’s going to put a ton of pressure on Sanchez to execute, and on the Jets to keep the Steelers out of their backfield.

- With it looking like Flozell was just sick and not injured, the Steelers offensive line has been playing better (NOT great) over the past several weeks. The Jets do not have a guy like Terrell Suggs that can cause matchup problems on the outside.

Now, to the Patriots. I kept waiting for them to just explode and score points in bunches, but kudos to the Jets for getting them down and then taking the air out of the ball in the 2nd half.

And one’s really got to start worrying about Belichick at this point. First he goes for 4th down on HIS side of the field at the 30. Then he allows a relatively young player on his roster to make an absolutely stupid decision which gave the Jets all the momentum going in at halftime. Then there was the drive in the 4th quarter where you would have thought it was the Patriots who were ahead by 10, not the Jets, there was absolutely no urgency whatsoever.

Sometimes success breeds confidence (Jets). And sometimes it breeds overconfidence (Patriots).

The bottom line: 45-3 was the worst possible thing that could have happened to the Patriots and was the perfect motivation for the Jets to come up to Foxboro and give the Pats a playoff TKO.

Think of how you felt when you beat Peyton in Indiana for the first time. Jets want the rings, we just love it that we beat the patsies in their house to move on for the chance of the rings. Particularly love it as the media annointed the patsies as the superbowl favorites. I guess they forgot the games had to be played! Time for you to go ice fishing!

Congrats Jets, you guys came and did what you needed, and we came and well, I’m not sure we even realized a game was going on until the last 5 minutes of the game. Not sure if it was lack of heart on the Pats side, superb planning on the Jets side, the pass rush for NY which smacked us around, the tight coverage by NY which didn’t give Brady hardly anywhere to pass to, or Brady’s overall sloppy playing yesterday (he really looked Busch league), or a combination of everything but you guys backed up your talked and won. Good job.

NO! next week i may start caring if we beat the steelers but not yet. this was the second biggest game in jets history and we won it. LOVED beating the pats, brady, belicheck.

It is now six years and counting since he last won a Super Bowl.

There are only 4 coaches in NFL history with 3 Super Bowl victories on their resume. Somehow I don’t think this loss is really going to put his job in jeopardy. And anyone that thinks videotaping signals, a practice that wasn’t even banned until 2006, nullifies those victories is an idiot.

The Cheaters were repeatedly warned since 2001. Those trophies can’t be nullified, but they sho’ is full o’ taint.

Get your facts straight before you stick Belichicks foot in your mouth.

1. Credit to the Jets’ game plan… as the article notes, it was a thing of beauty and completely took the Pats out of their own game. the Jets had to do everything right today and see the Pats make uncharacteristic mistakes in order to win… and that’s exactly what happened.

2. Interestingly the Jets were more gracious in victory (for the most part) than they were all week. They did earn the right to talk smack today, at least for now.

3. Very flat effort by the Patriots today… even before the Jets punched them in the mouth they seemed to lack intensity. And the defensive pass rush schemes were simply awful… the defense played well given the situations they were put in, but lacking a pass rush gave Sanchez the time he needed to feel comfortable and complete big plays.

4. Not good offensive line play today… uncharacteristic mistakes, lack of discipline, and no intensity…. really reminded me of their effort against the Giants in the Super Bowl.

5. Interesting decision by BB to bench Welker for the first series.. reinforced my belief the Belichick was not pleased with Welker’s playful poke, and that he doesn’t want to see his players get personal with opposing coaches. I can’t help but think that Welker’s benching affected the outcome of the first drive… had that drive resulted in a touchdown we could well have seen a different storyline unfold.

I can’t bring myself to be a Steelers fan even for a week, so now I will become a Packers fan for the next three weeks.

In the meantime, the long-term view for the Patriots is just as strong as it was before this game. They have a solid and young defense… an offense that is also younger and full of talent, and three of the first 33 picks this April. They will come back loaded next fall, particularly given the number of starters they get back from IR. They are still lacking some mental toughness and need to develop leadership on the defensive side of the ball, but they are very close to becoming one of the league’s best defenses. McCourty is a beast, and combined with Mayo, Cunningham, Spikes, Wilfork, Warren, Chung, Meriweather and Bodden this defense will only get better.

Here and congrats to the Jets for a well-deserved win.

Jets finally got a conventional pass rush. Marty Lyons (ex Jet d-lineman) said on the jets pregame, he told Ellis before the game that there might not be many more of these games for Ellis in his career, and Ellis sure played like it.

But it was a win. And a great one. The Jets deserve props. They talked big and walked bigger. They pretty much had full control of this game. Beating Manning is one thing (not unusual for him to lose in the playoffs) but beating Brady at home is another. This was a good win and the Jets deserve congratulations.

Good thing there are no real pats fans. Just redsox fans passing the time till spring training.

And he should trade down for 15 more draft picks. You can never have enough low round draft picks.

Oh and they all need to be white.

Wonder when we’ll start hearing about the “Miracle Jets”…the same Jets who went to the AFC Championship Game last season?

Belichick made some really questionable decisions during this game, so I think the talk about him being the greatest coach ever will die down a little.

Do I wish I’d never hear from their coach or their players again? You bet.

Is the media dying for them to get past Pittsburgh so they can get two weeks of their non-stop talking about anything (except feet)? You bet.

If they do get past Pittsburgh, I have to admit, I’ll be interested in watching Ryan deflect questions. Being a loudmouth, saying “I’m only here to talk about the game” has to be pretty painful.
