Singletary nears deal with Vikings

Mike Singletary

Nearly two weeks after the possibility of Mike Singletary to the Vikings was first floated, it looks like a deal is near.

Jason La Canfora of NFL Network says that Singletary is expected to join Leslie Frazier’s staff as a linebackers coach.    A deal is being worked on.  The Vikings were hoping to make some staff announcements early this week, including at offensive coordinator.

Fred Pagac is expected to be named the team’s defensive coordinator.

Our formula is this: we go out and we lose a lot of games and don’t make half time adjustment and lose and stick with losing qbs and exile the winning ones and we hit people in the mouthph. What a hack!!!

Great to have him .. Kinda wish he would be defensive coordinator, but having him on the staff will be a huge plus

farminfool-please tell me you are joking. i guarantee you’d want him fired after week 3. Sing is a conservative coach that thinks you can beat anyone on will and grit alone. forget schemes and intelligence. Sing is a good LB coach because thats what he knows. he doesnt know anything else.

he might have a bigger impact by also being named asst. HC

Say what you will about Singletary as a person and a head coach, but as a LB Coach, this is nothing but good news, I think he’ll excel at the position.

He has never been a DC and is terrible at X’s and O’s. People calling for him to be DC obviously have not seen him in action the last 2 years.

LB coach is the new ceiling for him. This is a perfect situation for him.

I believe the last time a pro head coach became a linebacker coach was Dave McGinniss, formerly of the Arizona Cardinals. McGinniss is now linebacker coach for the Titans. He seems to have settled in there. It is looking like the North is the NFC’s toughest division, so Frazier has to be smart, or bring up the rear behind Green Bay and Chicago and an up and coming Detroit team.

Good move if they secure Singletary.

Let’s get the whole 85 Bears team over here! I think they know a little something about winning. Welcome Mike!
