The last remaining Bucs player from the team’s 2002 championship team should be back with the club in 2011.
Coach Raheem Morris said cornerback Ronde Barber plans to return for a fifteenth season. Morris says they will figure out a deal to keep the impending free agent.
“He’s playing. Now it’s just a matter of what he’s playing for,” Morris told Rick Stroud of the St. Petersburg Times. “I’m really confident that he’s playing and I feel great about it.”
Morris even says Barber, 35, will remain a starter opposite Aqib Talib. Barber had a surprisingly strong 2010 season.
“It’s just a matter of deciding how much he’s worth and all that,” Morris said. “But our starting right cornerback will be back. He’ll be our starting right corner as long as he keeps playing at a high level.”
