If the notion that Tom Brady played on Sunday with a foot injury is being floated as an excuse for the loss to the Jets, Brady is willing to go to extremes to sell it.
Shira Springer and Monique Walker of the Boston Globe report that Brady will have surgery as soon as Thursday to repair a stress fracture in his foot.
The existence of the stress fracture was first reported by Tom Curran of Comcast SportsNet New England.
Per the report, the surgery could be pushed to Monday, but no later than that.
Brady last had surgery in 2008 to repair a torn ACL. The procedure resulted in a staph infection. He also had surgery several years ago to repair a sports hernia after the season ended.
Maybe, then, all those primal screams from Brady this season were simply the result of pain in his foot.
