Aaron Smith will not face the Jets

Aaron Smith

Despite some early optimism from Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, defensive end Aaron Smith will miss the AFC Championship.

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette confirms Smith’s only chance to play again this season is if the Steelers reach the Super Bowl.  Smith was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, but Smith confirmed he hasn’t participated in any team drills.

Since we don’t have much more to say on this subject, let’s hear from Hines Ward talking about facing Darrelle Revis again.   Rex Ryan hasn’t said what he’ll do with Revis.   If Revis covers Ward all game, it’s a sign the Jets don’t trust Revis to keep up with Mike Wallace’s speed.

Football fans deserve Revis vs. Wallace, don’t we?

WRONG! It’s a sign they don’t trust Cromartie to play physically enough to match up with Hines Ward.

I simply want to point out that we might need to have an extra Offensive Lineman or Defensive Lineman for this game ….. at one point Flozell went out and couldn’t return, than Foster got dinged up and walked off the field vs Ravens. Legursky had to come in – for a short bit – and the O line was jumbled up again ….all this while the Ravens and Suggs are trying to knock Ben into next week.

Can we really afford to keep A. Smith on the roster right now. What about – putting him on IR and than having him do the pregame speech. He is highly regarded and beloved by his teammates – but he could certainly inspire them with a long speech and let them know that since he isn’t 100%, he is sacrificing his spot to let a guy get on the list …..move ahead and allow him, the team, organization, and city have the BEST chance possible to move ahead and win a 7th Super Bowl.

I can’t fathom at this point since he has been out basically 11 regular season game, including the 3 weeks right now moving into thiss game. That is 14 weeks (3.5 months) ….so were suppose to believe and think that another 2 weeks are going to make him good enough to play??!!??

What about the fact that this Defensive Line has done such a tremendous job itsel – Ziggy is making those strides to be play-making starter!! Why mess with the continuity and mix of this unit ….They seem to be doing so well. I love A. Smith ….I love all his contributions. BUT the team cannot continue to ‘hope’ he can play. This just seems a bit irresponsible by the coaching staff. And I’m a diehard Steeler fan ….but this is beginning to become very frustrating to me.

It doesn’t matter who Revis covers, and definitely not Cromartie. There are just too many targets.

It does matter who Revis covers since that will leave the other WR wide open because Cro’ can’t cover anyone!

You seem ready for “Inside the NFL” with that statement. I wonder if you will be feeling the same way when 31 is doing the Dougie Dance in Ben’s face

look what happend to when people said that the pats had to many weapons for them to cover and look how they handled a faster pats team, they match up well against the steelers. Going to be a smash mouth football game the jets 17- the steelers 13. bank on it

    Sure jetters.

Steelers offense scores at least 20 and Troy is worth 7 more.

    27-13 boy wonder meets reality.

Jetters — “faster” Pats team? What are you smoking?

Welker, Gronkowski, Woodenhead, Branch — wow, some track team there. Doubt any of those guys could run a 5.0 forty.

If you recall last game, Jets DBs were grabbing hold of Steeler WRs from behind all game. They got burned, but got away with no flags. Wonder if the refs will be so kind this week.

Wallace, Sanders, Brown — better lace on those track shoes Jets.
