It’s called the “Rooney Rule” simply because Dan chaired the committee, not because he devised the rule. A committee of owners came up with it by request and the entire ownership agreed to it. Nothing was forced on them.

As majority owner of an NFL franchise, it concerns him. As a football fan, it concerns him. As many have pointed out, they’re re-doing the CBA because owners like Jerry Jones want more money–not because there’s a problem with the CBA as is.

Because the other owners decided they didn’t like the (6 year) agreement they had signed on to just 2 years earlier. So whose “mistake” was it really? Certainly not Mr. Rooney’s!

The only mistake that was made with the current CBA was that the owners agreed to it.

Now they don’t like it, and they want to change it. The players aren’t asking for another dime.

And how exactly is the current CBA all Rooney’s doing anyway?

The last time Dan Rooney was in town he straightened Goodell out about the league targeting the Steelers with their ridiculous calls and fines.
And it hasn’t happened since.

I think it’s time Rooney and the rest of the owners told Roger to update his résumé.

No one even pays actually deference to the Rooney rule. You could interview in Arsenio Hall to bypass the rule.

Secondly, breaking the rule only results in at $250K fine, if I’m not mistaken. In other words, it’s 1/4000 of what most organizations are worth.

Rooney just showed how important he is to the NFL. He’s actually not concerned about the money because he would rather maintain the integrity of the game.

Too bad it won’t work.

Give it away while your alive. But of course that isn’t what he means. What he means is “I’m better than my peers. I don’t want the money but I’ll keep it if I have to.”

If you would rather not have the money GIVE IT TO SOMEONE ELSE!
