Why did Martz call a time out when they would have picked up that first down on the ground? Not that I could see into the future but at the snap you could see a hole developing. In a game where I don't care who wins I always root for the team that is trailing but after watching Cutler, even before the injury looked like he was just throwing the ball up for grabs. His receivers had to play defensive back on a few of his throws. It would have been so BS for the 3rd stringer to win that game and have Cutler playing in the SB (and I'm sure taking credit for it all).

kennyrogerschicken says:

The 3rd stringer outplayed both the starter and the backup combined – that’s probably worse than Cutler being soft.

The "third stringer" (Caleb Hainie) outplayed Rodgers by a comfortable margin, too. Nobody seems to mention the Bears cutting Rodgers postseason QB rating by about 80 points.

uh, Mike Martz has a ring, and wouldve had another had the Patriots not gotten away with mugging the receivers at the line (resulting in rule changes later).

He helped construct the Greatest Show on Turf, and the Rams didnt bust a grape after he left.

Bears were lucky to even be in the NFC Championship.

Wow. Their t0p-10 QB has a knee he simply can't play on anymore, and suddenly the Bears "fans" turn on him, bringing up his character, personality, and toughness. This would NOT be happening had the Bears won the game. Had Cutler stayed in with his bum knee and the Bears lost, then the criticism would change to how selfish Cutler was for staying in the game with a bum knee. Stay classy Chicago!

Good thing the Packers didn't turn on Rodgers last year for his blunders at Arizona last year (or bench him in favor of Favre after Brett's 3rd unretirement in the same offseason), anymore than we turned on Favre after 3 playoff ending games largely due to him.

P.S.: I realize there are ton of classy Bear fans who don't bash their team, players, or coach for the loss. Those who do, stop your whining and grow up.

Mike Martz: Quarterback Killer

He gives you big numbers at times, then you lose a knee, a shoulder, and a spleen when a good defense blitzes.

Anyone remember the Giants/Bears game around Oct 3?

As to his toughness, and comparisons to Rivers playing on one knee.... I want to know which knee and which ligaments Rivers hurt vs. Cutler. If Cutler couldn't plant, he would be throwing ducks all day.

If nothing else, the Bears may have found themselves a 3rd round pick trade bait.

You either leave the field on a stretcher, or hobble off with a teammate or a trainer helping you…. and if you DON’T get rushed to a hospital, you at least stand on the sidelines on crutches with a brace around your knee. It’s the freaking Championship game, your team plays their a$$es off all year to get there.

Favre, Young, Montana, Elway and Aikman are all laughing at Cutler. If you are hurt and can't come back in, do a Fred "the Hammer" Williamson and pretend like you are knocked out and lay on the field. Don't walk off the field and cry my knee hurts.

Asa Patriots fan, I would love nothing more than to dump on Peyton Manning.

But I have never, NEVER seen Peyton Manning leave a game upright and stand - or sit - on the sidelines.

I guarantee Urlacher had a few choice words for Cutler in the locker room.

This was the defining moment of Jay Cutler's career.

Urlacher is a great player and all but he is just such a tool. The fact that he had the nerve to argue against the most blatant roughing penalty I’ve seen all season said it all.

What games you watched all season? Peppers turned his head and it was definitely a questionable call, yes, the rule requires some revision and it was according to the written rule but damn, everybody will end up being like Cutler?????????r

Although i'm extremely disappointed that Cutler didn't finish the game, he WAS NOT listening to music on the bench/sideline. Anyone with an inkling of football knowledge would know he was listening to the plays being called in.

Watch any football game on any given Sunday and you'll see the backups/other position players with the same "earbuds".
