Packers pile up a 14-point lead

APTOPIX NFC Championship Football

If the playing surface at Soldier Field will be getting worse at the NFC title game wears on, the team that scores the most points before the green dirt gets even worse will be at a distinct advantage.

Apart from the fact that, you know, they’ll have more points than the other team.

The Packers have seized the upper hand so far, with a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter.

The points came via a methodical opening drive that hit paydirt via an Aaron Rodgers bootleg, and a short field after a field-position battle that resulted in tailback James Starks getting his first NFL touchdown.

The Bears have been moving the ball at times, but their drives have petered out.  Their current drive could be their best one yet, so this one is hardly over.

Better team is winning this game.

Still hardly over, but a penalty broke their back on that drive.

They are who we thought they were.

The big story so far I believe is how easily Green Bay is running the ball. With a backup LT in vs. Peppers, they can’t afford 3rd and long. But it doesn’t look like they’ll face too many at this rate.

Cutler’s stinkin the joint out and what’s up with his playaction anyway?

He holds his empty hand out and never shows the ball.

  6. tobiasjodter says: Jan 23, 2011 4:14 PM

How about that late hit by Howard Green on Cutler just now (2-10 @ 4:11) ? No flag? C’mon if that had been a Steeler the field would have littered with flags… NFL is full of it..

  7. scoob766 says: Jan 23, 2011 4:17 PM

Bears are and were overrated. Not a Pack fan, but Cutler is not a elite qb, he is borderline good and horrible any given Sunday. The game is far from done (if your a bears fan), but lets face it, it’s over.

  8. atcojack says: Jan 23, 2011 4:22 PM

Bring pressure on Cutler and he becomes a fetus in the pocket, too busy looking for the blitzer than his open receivers.

GB today are doing what the Giants did in week 4.

How about the Bears offensive line wrapping their arms around the necks of the Pack’s front three practically every pass play without a call?

  10. mataug says: Jan 23, 2011 4:29 PM

and now the Bears fans will come in complaining about the interception ruling… I’m with you Bears fan on one front…. I’ve no idea how to interpret the act of completing a catch rule

  11. thehatefulnerd says: Jan 23, 2011 4:30 PM

    Shouldn’t even be this close.

  12. emoney826 says: Jan 23, 2011 4:30 PM

Where is this blow out that some of you ignorant bear fans have been saying?

  13. boysroll says: Jan 23, 2011 4:31 PM

cutler sucks, they play in a joke of a div besides pack and the better team is kicking tail. the field absolutely blows too…what an embarassment to the nfl and its fans…get a real stadium….

  14. Megatron says: Jan 23, 2011 4:34 PM

How is that INT not overturned?

  15. canadianvikingfaniii says: Jan 23, 2011 4:35 PM

Bears have been overrated the whole season. Finally people are realizing it.

  16. mataug says: Jan 23, 2011 4:48 PM

sorry Bears fans, the only way out for your team is if GB starts committing penalties like that MNF game… I just don’t see anything in Cutler that gives me any hope for the Bears offense

That joke of a division makes the rest of the NFC look awful. Honestly only a complete moron would talk crap about the North when without a doubt it it is the best division in the NFC. In the last two years 3/4 of the NFC division reps have been from the NORTH. How are the cowboys going to do next year anyway? Piss off.

boysroll ……..Says you the fan of the worst joke of a team in the NFL…Cowboys!

  19. dmobey says: Jan 23, 2011 4:54 PM

Why is the Bear’s QB so fat?

    Look at that double chin.

  20. dmobey says: Jan 23, 2011 4:55 PM

Wow – NFC Championship and Cutler sits on the sidelines.

What a wuss. What a total pansy wuss.

    Wow.

  21. pervyharvin says: Jan 23, 2011 4:58 PM

OMG….Just gift wrap a SB for the Packers! Todd Collins??? TJack looks like Montana compared to that fool. Cutler is a puss

  22. sdw2001 says: Jan 23, 2011 4:59 PM

Cutler out. 14-0 and Collins just nearly threw a pick (overruled after being called one).

It’s finally going to be over for the overrated Bears and the BEARTARD fans.

  23. eknirb says: Jan 23, 2011 5:03 PM

Why is Cutler out of the game? Who did he *iss off this time?

True that… however, those holds are never called when Woodley and Harrison (Steelers) are held either so that’s normal to me…

I wonder if there are any more violent promos they can show during the game while 12, 13 and 14 year olds are watching. Just another hypocritical day in the life of the NFL and the networks.

  26. jamson64 says: Jan 23, 2011 5:13 PM

Cutler gets to save face by sitting on the sideline.

    He’s just not that good.

  27. jamson64 says: Jan 23, 2011 5:15 PM

JIMR10- while I agree . Please don’t give them any ideas. I like the violence.

Boysroll is an idiot. The NFC Norths 6-10 teams in any season are better than your divisions winners let alone the Dallas Cowjokes
