Steelers manhandle Jets in first half

Jets coach Rex Ryan needs a miracle to avoid another AFC Championship game loss.

The Steelers lead 24-3 at halftime after a thoroughly dominant 30 minutes of football.  The Steelers piled up 231 total yards to only 50 for the Jets.  Pittsburgh’s beleaguered offensive line mauled the Jets defense with 135 yards on the ground, including 95 by Rashard Mendenhall alone.   The Jets have one rushing yard.

This has been big boy football by the entire Steelers team.  Ike Taylor forced a Mark Sanchez fumble that was picked up by cornerback William Gay and returned for a touchdown.

The Jets have been a fourth quarter team all year, but they have a lot of work to do just to make the fourth quarter of this game interesting.

UPDATE: Jets are off to a good start in bid to make it interesting.  A bomb to Santonio Holmes cut the lead to 24-10 early in the third quarter.
