The point about Witten's stats is that he's already ahead in yards and receptions of almost every TE in the HOF. He's only 28. He's a complete TE in that he is highly skilled in both receiving and blocking. That can't be said of all TEs. Jason has been one of the best TEs in football for over six seasons. Again, that can't be said about everyone else. Dallas Clark was offered up as someone who's better by a previous poster. Clark is 3 years older and yet he's over 200 receptions and 2,000 yards behind Witten.

I totally agree with you; it's getting ridiculous. We MADE this site but now we're censored or even banned for disagreeing with an article (even if you don't use foul language). Hopefully another site will pop up that will compile NFL news because this one is down dictatorial PerezHilton level.

"Where are Trent Cole, Kyle Williams, Quitin Mikell and Demarcus Ware (Or Tamba Hali)?"

--------------------------------------------------

I agree with Hali, who led the NFL in QB pressures and hits, and Kyle Williams, who played out of position for the majority of the season as a 34 nose and still dominated.

I also agree on Trent Cole, the fact that John Abraham made it over Cole just shows me that even the All Pro team is picked based on stats. Abraham must have got in just because he had 13 sacks and played for the no.1 seeded Falcons because Trent Cole is a way more complete player and made the bigger impact in 2010. The Eagles drafted Brandon Graham to take the focus off Cole, sadly Graham didnt start fast and suffered a knee injury so Cole was constantly doubled again this season. He still managed to show why he is considered the best run stopping 4-3 end in the game though: constantly making plays behind the LOS on the ballcarrier and stringing out run plays to the outside and showing off amazing stack and shed ability. As a edge rusher Cole doesnt have a plethora of moves but he has terrific burst and explosion off the edge and manages to get pressure despite his size and facing constant doubles and chipping TEs. his 72 tackles and 10 sacks is very impressive considering he was the focus of every opposing offensive line and one of the only great players on a very young Eagles defense that is going through major changes. As a pass rusher Abraham may have the slight edge overall, but as a complete player its not close and Cole should have made it over Abraham

However Quintin Mikell should be nowhere close to a All Pro team, first or second team. This is also coming from a die hard Eagles fan who hasnt missed a game in years. Mikell was solid at times, but way too often halfbacks would just lower their shoulder and flatten Mikell in embarassing fashion. Guys like Ryan Torain completely ran over Quintin. On top of that Mikell was pretty awful in tackling in the open field. In coverage Mikell was solid in zone but susceptible in man coverage. Overall he is a average veteran strong safety

And thats my other point: Mikell is and has been a SS, so claiming Mikell should be on the list means he should have got on over Troy Polamalu---and no one believes that!

Regarding Witten, he probably deserves to be an All-Pro based on the whole season. A lot of TEs missed a lot of games this year, and Witten had a good year. But lets not get carried away...

@aimpai- Witten is definitely not the best blocking TE in the league. He may be one of the most complete, or one of the better blocking TEs but not the best. Witten is not even the best blocking TE on his team, that would be Martellus Bennett. There are a lot of TE's in the league that can block better but do not catch many balls. That is why they bring them in on short yardage.

@1 bigtex- you can't compare today's TEs to those in the Hall of Fame, the position has changed way too much. Most of todays top tier TEs will end up with much better numbers than those in HOF. TEs used to be linemen who could run and catch. Now they are big recievers who can block (usually). Or have 2 TEs, one that is a large reciever and one that comes in on short yardage plays to block.

In my opinion Darrell Reavis one of the best CB's in the NFL, but this season he was exposed and banged up. The NY media created all that Reavis island crap. Granted he did shut down every elite WR he faced last season, but the key word is LAST SEASON. His selection was a reputation pick.

Jerod Mayo is a good ILB, but the cat can't play pass coverage. Plus the Pats D was very pedestrian this season at beat. Like Bart Scott said and I quote," The Patriots can't even stop a nose bleed." I might sound biased since I'm a bears fan, but Urlacher would have a much better selection than Mayo. Can't argue with the Patrick Willis pick at all.

Then James Harrison over Tamba Hali! Are you serious associated press? How can one of the league leaders in sacks not be on the all-pro team? Where they do that at? I would've been cool with Cameron Wake being picked cause he has one of the best motors in the league, every time I seen him play he gives it his best and goes all out! I've seen this dude hawk somebody from 15 yards away! You gotta love that out of a DE!!!

I agree that Logan Mankins should not be on the all pro team. Witten deserves to be there cause he's one of the beat TE's in the NFL and not to mention the most complete TE in the league.

The Ed Reed selection can be put under the scope, but he did comeback and led the league in INT's and only played half the season.

But I agree for the most part that all-star teams and all league teams are usually popularity contests for some odd reason.

"Are you kinding me? Gates missed time and absolutly can’t block. Witten is the best blocking TE + had a 1000y season with a backup QB. The real shock to me here is that Witten wasn’t voted unanimously also."

-------

"Gates still had more TDs than Witten, despite playing in 6 fewer games and playing half the season with a tear in his foot.

Witten got it based soley on his total yardage. Thats fine, but the idea that he’s clear cut above gates is silly.

-------------------

Didn't say Witten was a better receiver than Gates. He's not. But he's a far superior blocker, both in pass prot and in the run. Easily the best in the league. Claiming something else would just be pure ignorance.
Gates was off to a good start, receiving wise before he got injured, no doubt about it, but catching the ball is just half the job of a TE.
Witten is the best blocker and the second best receiver in the league. How can he not be there?

Osi and Tuck of the Giants had much better seasons than Abraham.
Abraham- 40 tackles (35 solo); 13 sacks; 2 forced fumbles.
Osi= 48 (33); 11.5 ; 10 freaking forced fumbles.
Tuck= 76 (48); 11.5; 6.

I guess the voters think that 1.5 sacks is better than 8 forced fumbles or 36 tackles. Tuck put up his numbers despite being injured all season. Osi set the NFL record for forced fumbles in a season.

gogronk:
"As a Pats fan I really don’t get the Mankins selection. He played great in the games he did play but an all pro should represent the whole season. Also, Suh had a good year, but Vince Wilfork was a beast all along the defensive line this season."

Did you watch any Lions games this year? Doesn't matter what Wilfork did. Suh was a bigger and better beast than Wilfork all year. He was a bigger and better beast than any other DT in the NFL.

#3 among all DT in tackles - 66
#1 among all DT in sacks - 10 (2nd place had 7)
T-#1 among DT in INT's - 1
1 of only 3 DT in the NFL to score a TD in the regular season

To the person saying Jamaal Charles shouldn't have made it....

He had 149 less yards than Arian Foster. He also had 97 less carries. He isn't physically designed to be a 350 carry warhorse. What he is, though, is 2010's most explosive running back.

Also, the omission of Brandon Marshall is just criminal.

I would also defend James Harrison's selection. Yeah, he didn't throw up 15 sacks, but he changes the way offenses have to approach a game.

Here is a note to NFL fans... when you brag about a player making the pro bowl as the (pick a number alternate) then you are a blatant homer who bleeds their team colors.

Good for you but everyone else can roll their eyes and ignore you for the rest of the duration.

Also anyone complaining about Suh making the AP squad likely never watched the Lions play. He was the best player on the field in all three Lions games I watched this year. I watched about a half dozen Ravens games this year and Suh was better than Ngata in the games that I watched.

That isn't a knock on Ngata who is one of the best players in football. But Suh is the first player I have seen on the defensive line that dominated a game the way Reggie White did. I'm not saying he's Reggie White. I'm saying he may be better, we'll see how he builds on his rookie year.

It always surprises me when people that call themselves NFL fans don't even know the difference between "All-Pro" and "Pro Bowl".

They are two different things. For instance, Michael Vick has been to multiple Pro Bowls but has never been an All-Pro.

Are you sure this isn't the Pro Bowl voting? It seems like all you had to do was have a name to make this list. Here's a list of players who shouldn't have made it and their replacements:
1. Logan Mankins - He played half the season. How about San Fran's Iaputi?
2. Darelle Revis - Did Devin McCourty not out play him? And didn't Revis miss part of the season?
3. Reggie Wayne - What does Brandon Lloyd have to do to get on this list?
4. Nnamdi Asomugha - Granted, he wasn't thrown at that much, but he spent a good chunk of the season injured. How about Joe Haden or Asante Samuel.
5. James Harrison - He's deserving, but Cameron Wake or DeMarcus Ware is more deserving.

You're not actually trying to pass off Dallas Clark as a better all around TE than Jason Witten are you? Has Dallas Clark ever actually blocked someone? Anybody? Ever? Good receiver. That's it. Witten had almost twice the number of receptions this year when compared with Gates. Jason Witten set the record for the fastest TE to 600 receptions. Vernon Davis is just a couple of seasons removed from being considered a bust and the kids in NE are still kids. Take a look at any TE presently in the HOF and tell who's career track exceeds Witten's. The answer; Nobody.

FYI, the team doesn't even include the league's leading pass rusher.
