We’re not sure where Kansas City’s slow search for an offensive coordinator will go next, but coach Todd Haley insists he isn’t likely to hire himself for the job.
“The odds of that happening are very limited,” Haley told Alex Marvez and Jim Miller on Tuesday for Sirius NFL Radio. “I’ve been doing a lot of work on that since the season ended and feel good about the direction we’re going.
“I’m not ready to disclose any of that, but we’re at a different place than we were at in Year One when I had to make some tough changes coming out of training camp that really put us in a difficult spot.”
Haley talks about being in year three of his system and having a great foundation, but the reality is that Weis made his own tweaks to the system and especially to Matt Cassel. Now Weis is gone, and Haley seems to be struggling to decide how best to move forward.
No matter how he wants to spin it, a third offensive coordinator in three years is concerning for young quarterback.
