Oh my, cintiphil … you let me have it and my lil pea brain is just spinning in my head. Whatever will I do now, being such an empty-headed and illogical creature? Perhaps you could explain the game to me, since you’re such an expert and all. What is a first down? And is the ball round like a soccer ball or oval-shaped like a rugby ball? Now does this game stop for a two-minute warning or is that NCAA football? Oh I’m soooo confused :shock:

Well, at least you admitted it. You are on your way to recovery. Now go back into the kitchen and cook something up! Good girl..

jw731 says: Mike Webster woulda played…..Just sayin

HaHa. He would NEVER make it in football today. Have you seen the players from the 70s? (not just the Steelers). Watch some highlights on ESPN classic or the NFL network--they would be flagged damn near every play. Goodell would have had a field day with fines :)

toolkien says: Well the Cardinals were roughly the 21st best team in the league with the fourth worst defense in 2008...The Cardinals of 2008 were basically the Seahawks this year.

Uh-huh. Make excuses, but they made it to the Super Bowl which means they were better than the 30 teams that didn't make it, so they must have been pretty good. Give 'em some credit.

Legursky held his own vs Shaun Ellis and no doubt will doubt he same with some fat kid named Raji, who people outside Green Bay never heard of! Steeelrs will rock the Pack!

---------------------------------------------

you'll know who he is after next Sunday....along with a few other names you may not know now.

That beingsaid, I agree with Candianvikingfanii--losing a starting center is a big deal. He is the center (sorry) of communications for the line. Good thing they'll have a couple of weeks to work on it.

No predictions from me, just think it will be a good game --maybe one of the best (top5) SB's ever

***Didn’t the Steelers win their last Super Bowl with their backup offensive line playing due to injuries?***

Well the Cardinals were roughly the 21st best team in the league with the fourth worst defense in 2008. Meanwhile the Pack are arguably the second best team in NFL this year with arguably the best defense. The Cardinals of 2008 were basically the Seahawks this year. That is who Pitt vanquished for their last Superbowl, and that was by the hair on their chiny-chin-chin as I recall. The only hope Pittsburgh has is if McCarthy dials up one of his awesome gameplans that has the Pack treading water for 2 or 3 quarters on offense.

Leave comments to people who played the game. There is no need for insults about teams. Did you remember last year when the lowly Benglas whipped your ass TWICE? No one said anything about age in the comments I saw. That is not what we are talking about when we say the Steelers are not hitting on all eight at this time. The are sluggish on offense and not taking all opportunities given to them. But then you never played the game did you?
--------------------------------------------------

So you're working on the assumption that every man commenting here has played football, but the woman has not. Interesting. Actually ... I was required to play football for a semester in 10th-grade phys. ed. Of course, it wasn't supposed to be tackle football--but you've never played with girls, have you, big guy? Some of them scratch, bite, and fist-punch the boobs. It's not fun being dragged around the field by your hair. Since you can't handle being on a blog with a woman, those girls would have torn you apart on a football field.

Someone on another thread was declaring the Steelers over-the-hill agewise, and when you said we were "in decline," I mentally connected the two comments. But your nose is out of joint because I called it: You're a Cincy fan taking a shot at the Steelers the same way the Bears and Vikes fans are taking shots at the Pack. I'd suggest you man up and own it. But the real men here--including many Bengals fans--don't have any problem with women who enjoy football.

I've been on PFT/CFT quite a while and won't be going anywhere. Live with it.

cintiphil? You’re a litte on the bossy side, huh?

You might be right, but don't you hate it when people twist around what you say? This "Deb" comments on the age of players, when no one was speaking about age, then to make a stupid comment about what happened last year makes no sense, except if you want to try to insult someone. So I hit her with the obvious failings of past Steelers, which make no sense either, to bring home a point. She is clearly a fan, but a true HOMER, without any clear thought or logic. So. I let her have it back.. So What?

Can’t believe four people gave a thumbs-up to sleazysnake’s assertion that retired Kevin Mawae is in this year’s Pro Bowl. Is anyone paying attention to the labor negotiations? :roll:

@calloustongue …

I know about Raji, won’t be underestimating him, and would prefer to have Pouncey at full-strength going against him. But it is what it is, and we will have to adjust. No excuses, remember?

@Pats fans …

Gee, a lot of you are mouthing off about how the Pack is going to kill us. Seems like only yesterday most of you were showing us the love and begging us to take out the Jets. One could almost think you were … insincere :)

@cintiphil …

You’re right, the Steelers are in decline and our QB is over the hill. He’s almost two whole years older than Aaron Rodgers. By the way … how are things at the bottom of the division? Enjoying looking up at Cleveland?

The Steelers don’t bitch and moan when a starter goes down. They plug in the backup, and play football.

With that said, Legursky is giving up a huge size, and strenght advantage against Raji. His technique better be on point.
---------------------------------------------
I seem to recall the whiniest fanbase in football whining they had 7 starters out when they got their ass handed to them by the Pats. Hmmm.....how soon we forget.

Bad news if Pouncey is out. But, the Packers have injuries, too. Good teams...well coached teams learn to overcome injuries. It's part of the game. As a Steelers fan, I will not use this or anything else as an excuse if the Steelers lose. Unlike fans of other teams that like to make excuses when their team loses and try to lay blame for their loss such as blaming the referees.

Having said this, I still expect the Steelers to win. But, I don't know. It could go either way.

Wasn’t it just last year that all the Packers fans were saying how poor this guy was playing? Now all of a sudden, he has a good year, and he’s the best NT in the league "

Quick, name all the defensive tackles not named "Ndamukong" who are really good players in their rookie year. I'll wait. It's a very short list, and yet many defensive tackles who were drafted end up to be really good players (at least almost all of the defensive tackles who are really good players were drafted at some point).

Also, and I'm amazied that nobody has mentioned this yet, but Kris Jenkins is on injured reserve and has been since the first week of the season. He didn't actually play against the Steelers, nor against the Patriots, Dolphins, Bills, Vikings, Broncos, Packers, Lions, Browns, Texans, Bengals, Bears, or Colts. The guy who replaced Jenkins, Sione Pouha, is nowhere near as good as Jenkins or Raji.

I knew this would instantly bring out a chorus of “Well yeah but look how many injuries the Packers have had!!!!!” from the Packer faithful.

Yeah, we know, you had injured players. It’s only been mentioned 10,000 times so far this season. So does everybody else. Get over it.

Steelers are still a lock. Rodgers will eff up when it counts. Mark it down. Championship!

The Packers are not making excuses merely pointing out that our backups are better than any other teams starters in the NFC and we are about to test the AFC as well. I imagine with the same result. I can't wait for next year (if there is one) with Finley, Burnett, Neal, and Grant back the Packers will be unstoppable.

The Steelers beat the Packers last year without Pouncey. Ben threw over 500 yards.

————————————————–

yeah he did. against guys called jarred bush, josh bell, and a couple other street people.

ben won’t come close to 500 passing yards this time around, i garauntee it.
"

Anyone who thinks Big Ben is going to have it easy should realize this is NOT the same defense as it was last year. In that game, Jarred Bush, Josh Bell prevented Dom Capers from calling many of the plays he wanted to because he couldn't trust them.

This time around we have Sam Shields, Tramon Williams and others who know what they are doing. As a result, the Pack is the #5 defense in total yards and the #5 defense in passing yards, as well as #2 in the league in INTs.

On offense, the Pack has the #9 offense compared to the Steelers #14 offense.

Its going to be a great game.
