After being a head coach in Tennessee for 17 years, Jeff Fisher isn’t interested in taking a step back down the coaching ladder.
Fisher’s agent, Marvin Demoff, told Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News that it was “highly unlikely” that Fisher would join the Eagles’ staff.
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer has a source that says Fisher will not be the next Eagles defensive coordinator. The same source also denied an ESPN report that Andy Reid told a few candidates that the team’s coordinator job is full.
The Fisher news is no surprise. Considering the money he’s making to walk away from Tennessee, it makes no sense to take a demotion.
Fisher has the money and the market value to wait for a better job to open next year.
UPDATE: Fisher spoke with Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean: “It’s time for me to rest, and fish. I have total peace about this right now.”
